I am considering coming back to SWG, even though I know it is still broken. It is still my favourite game of all time! What are the numbers like now? Are there people still playing the game or is it dead in major cities? I am a team player and like playing in groups/guilds. What server is still full? Is Scylla full cuz that is where my character is? Is there a character server transfer? I sort of remember there being one but I can't remember.

In October 2007, Primotechnology.com reported that; "It’s estimated that the game now has fewer than 100,000 subscribers and less than 20,000 active players.

Thats what i read off of wikipedia.... take that as you will.

I can only tell you on my server (Bria) there still seems to be a decent population. In the major cities there always seems to be a few running around starports and cantinas. And you will usually find hunting groups setting up and forming in the more popular hunting areas. Of course its not always like this, and there are times when I seem like Im in a world all to myself...The numbers may be dropping but there are still quite a few on during my play times.

Keep in mind this is only the Bria server and I dont have any chars on any other ones.

Im a returning player myself since before NGE so when I came back it was alot for me to learn about the game. It was totally different for me. Ive only been back bout 3 months now so Im still finding alot to do. Im 81 right now so still making the grind to 90. The whole space thing is still new to me and Im still exploring worlds that were not there before so for me there is still lots I have to do.

definitely there are servers that are empty, the most populated server is Bloodfin, but Bria and Ahazi and the Euro Chimaera server run close 2nd's etc. Personally, if i was starting a new char up i would play on either Bloodfin or Bria, whatever server you choose though, will probably have to accept the fact that grouping will not always be easy, and for some things near on impossible. Thats not to say that you can't have fun with the game still, the game is improving, in time its possible it may even become popular again.

Is there a character transfer system? I would hate to start over when I have a lvl 90 Master Jedi on Scylla. I have a few respecs too so that would suck! I would love it if I could transfer him to a different server.

How is the PvP now? I was never into PVP but if I come back and join a good guild, I would be up for it for sure.

There is a character transfer service, the official website has all the details, including what items are, or are not transferable.

There are plenty of people on my so called "small" server. I never have trouble finding groups. When CH8 was released the other day a lot of the servers reached medium status which shows there are a lot more active accounts than 20k.

They dropped the thresholds after the NGE to make it appear more busy that it was.

I dont beleive anyone can say there are plenty of people on any server, there may be enough to get by.

Some servers IE 1 or 2 are doing ok from server transfers from other smaller galaxies, but i think every server is hemoraging players faster than they are being replaced.

As for populations on a chapter day, these are missleading readings.

On a chapter day some people may resub to have a look around at the new content, people with station passes who now play EQ, VG or what ever else will log on to make sure they have their chapter rewards etc etc.

These numbers soon dissapear again after a few days as they go back to where ever it is they usually preffer to be.

And then of course you have the posters that play, the people that for the most part play very little of the game but the forums come chapter day they move inforce upon any new content to prove their l33t worthness and blitz any new content as fast as possible for not only backslapping and bragging rights but so they can get back to the safe grounds of the forums wher ethey can feel self important and all l33ty.
