I saw a 10 minute segment of a boss battle. The dialogue is simply hilarious, though more in that way of laughing "at," than "with," but I believe that is intended by the writers. Apparently some of the staff worked on Speed Grapher as well and I could definitely sense that style. The art style was different, but certainly not unique, and never added not subtracted from the game.
However if the game play is anything like the boss battle I saw then the game is utter tedium (though to be fair I don't see how most beat em ups go beyond tedium). It was a fight against a southwest themed gunman. It consisted of the main character running around in circles until the boss had tired of shooting and then whacking him until he was ready to fire again. Every so often the hero would have to stand still and do a gimmicky wiimote shake to recharge his nonsensical weapon. The boss really presented zero threat to the hero character. He didn't move at all, perhaps overconfident in the rigidity of his clothing, and for being a top ranked assassin he isn't a very good shot. Circle running was enough to evade all (by which I mean two types) of his attacks.
Perhaps that was simply the easiest boss in the game?

To be fair he was only the second boss & he presented a larger threat to the hero than you'd think. He was a weaker boss though. The first boss IMO was a lot more difficult in that he deflected attacks more often and could make clones of himself ala naruto.
Most of the boss fights are pretty fun, and involve lots of wrestling moves. Some can be stupidly difficult. At the beginning of the game you can only choose sweet(easy) or mild(normal) mode. Odds are you were watching the game played in sweet mode.
There are certain bosses, specifically the one called "bad girl" which can be really difficult if you slip up.(one hit from her eats a lot of life, and she has a really weird instant kill move - though IF you ever fall into once, you'll learn quickly how to avoid it. (she sits down and acts all pouty, I should have figured it was a trap...)
Anyways, Allegory - please don't judge the game based on what was probably the least cool boss battle in the game...well.. Speed Buster's boss battle is equally silly. The player never has to take a swing at her, he just need to get within range of her more or less.
