Is it true that you can kill players for bountys on them?

This is true. You can hunt other players. However, I'm not exactly sure of the mechanics. Ask a Master Bounty Hunter next time you see one.

This is how it works:

You cannot place a bounty from being killed from a /duel (stupid rule IMO)

You cannot place a bounty as a bounty hunter on your mark if your mark /deathblows you.

You cannot, as a mark, place a bounty on a bounty hunter with your mission if he /DBs you.

You *can* place a bounty on a player of the opposing faction who /deathblows you.

So if I'm imp and a rebel kills me, as we are both have declared Special Forces by typing /pvp twice, a window pops up before my cloning window does and asks me if I would like to place a bounty on the player who /DBed me. I click yes or no. If I click yes then i get to place however much as long as I have the creds in my bank or inventory.

The creds are taken instantly and now the reb who killed me now has a bounty on his head as soon as i click ok (plus any he already had) which his mission can now be brought up on BH terminals as a Rebel SF operative.

Also you gain a little bounty each time you PvP at restuss or kill the NPCs but you have to have a bounty of at least 15k to become visible on the terms.. And it takes a LONG time to get that if you never /DB anyone but still do dmg to them or kill NPCs.

If you have a bounty and are being hunted; you will not see the BH hunting you as a red dot (unless he is also declared SF and is opposing faction but thats kinda uncommon) he will usually be blue and in some case even purple (the dirty same faction hunter)

But the BH will see you, his mark, as a red dot, and he has the ability to first strike you (which currently is pretty gnarly) unless you trick him and get him to waste his first strike on say.., your speeder.

You can be informed of the exact amount of any bounty on your head plus any info on any BHs hunting you and their range from you but you need a smuggler to do this for you and should tip him if he does.

more than one BH can hunt you at same time and have your mission so if you get a bounty of a couple mil it gets exciting.

BH is very gear intensive. You need kick *** ******** special tools such as tracking droids, and/or a hella of alotta patience to hunt players.

You cannot be hunted/killed by BH while inside a structure that is declared "private"

You can not be hunted in space :|

You cannot be tracked on Kashykk or Musta (but in some extreme cases still get hunted)

You currently cannot be tracked while stealthed (but sometimes still hunted)

If you are a BH and have a mission you just walk right up to them and start slappin' them.

You don't need to duel or anything, just start firing.

When I was a BH though, I made just as much money by not killing them. I would send them a message "I'm hunting you" and get a good laugh as they started running around trying to find where I was and how they could get away.

Quite often they would reply back asking how much the bounty was. I'd tell them and they would just pay it and I would drop the mission and promise not to take a mission on them for a week (I always kept that promise too, gotta have some ethics). Of course this was back when you could only hunt jedi and they lost xp for getting killed. They were a lot more willing to offer a cash bribes.

Nowdays it probably wouldn't work seeing as there is no penalties for death.

Its in the smuggler expertise and the special is called "Inside Information" described as having contacts inside Jabba's Palace. So the smugglers has the Inside Info Special loaded on tool bar then he targets a player and clicks the special and the targeted players recieves a system message informing him of his bounty.

PLaying as a smuggler its nice cause you can call up Jabba with inside info after every one you kill to see who places the big bounties because as a smuggler you can also check yourself with no lockout time on the special so you can stay constantly aware of any BHs hunting you.
