What Games are you Waiting For? (was forum=28)Follow

Just as the title suggests? What are the release dates you are waiting for, desperately willing time to go faster? Or worse, what are the games you want now that don't even have definitive dates?

I am an RPG addict, so most of mine fall into that category. Although there are some others I am excited about.

MMORPG-

Like so many others, I cannot wait for Warhammer Online. Will I like it? No clue. But everything I have heard or seen, from the concept art to their plans for PvP, excite me.

PC-

None, other than the MMO mentioned above. I don't have the strongest PC around, and I have never really gotten into them. I would love the next SC and WC RTS games to be around soon though.

Console-

PS3-

Little Big Planet (Trailer Link: http://www.stage6.com/PS3-Home/video/1311728/[PS3]Little-Big-Planet---Trailer). I dunno, it just looks legitimately fun. I would like some info on its fabled "bosses" though. But it easily has one of the most impressive Physics Engines that I have ever seen. This game just makes me smile.

FF:XIII. Gorgeous graphics, hopefully the same great story I have come to expect from the FF series (and they need to make up for FFXII a little.) I mean, in the CGI when she looks crestfallen, surrounded by soldiers. I was like, "Whoah."

FF:XIII Versus, Marry Me? Please? No... Okay... Just don't kill me? Crap.

Wii-

I don't own a Wii, so, even though it is already out, I am treating it like it isn't for the immediate future, so I don't get jealous. : P But, Super Mario Galaxy has a similar quality to LBP. Fun.

I'm not really a Wii fan, so that's all there really is, until I see something like the next Zelda.

XBox 360-

I'm not going to lie, my knowledge of the XBox's incoming titles is iffy at best. I just cannot get into the system. I may be a little fanboyish, but when I play with my friend's console it just doesn't click. Mostly, I don't like the controler. But, apart from that, I don't really like FPS games, which seem to make up most of the 360's reptoire. Aside from Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, I don't even know what else would play.

I like Halo and all, but only Co-Op... and I'm kinda cheap, and already paying for two MMOs (15 for WoW and 18 for FFXI, with Tetra Master) so I rather not spend the money for XBox Live.

So, tell me your desires! Both for a fun thread, and to get more info out there about upcoming games (so I can find a legitimate reason why I need an Xbox 360, because I am greedy and I want one anyway).

Huh... It seems I should have included handheld consoles in the original post. :P

Well, I second Crisis Core, but I cannot recall what furure PSP/DS games are coming out soon. I, unfortunately, give them less attention than their big brothers.

I'm assuming that no one has mentioned Brawl because... well...

I dunno actually? Because it might as well be a GC game, considering very few people will be using the Wiimote for it? : P

On that note... KILL HIM PIKACHU!

Probably because all of the brawl games to date have been overrated button mashers with ****ty graphics.

Force Unleashed does look interesting though. MGS 4 might convice me to pick up a PS3.

I'm sort of looking forward to this one, too, but I'm growing more skeptical.

There's echoes of Vanguard in them saying there's a "miracle build" on the horizon that's going to alleviate the gripes of beta testers. Fact is, the thing is slated for live release in a very short while, and if they do have some perfect build I wonder why they don't have it live in beta right now, so it could be like, tested and stuff.

Am I going to be that lame fan that turns a passing comment about a game into the main discussion? Yes I am.

It's a minor detail, but a rather obvious and annoying mistake, the game series is "Smash Bros." and the third game in the series is "Brawl." Not the other way around.

Smash Bros. is the furthest a game could be form a button masher, it just simply doesn't have an enigmatic control system that forces a player to look at a game manual to figure out what they want to do. Melee has techniques with input speeds surpassing the Guilty Gear series, and depth arguably on par or surpassing the Virtua Fighter series.

Smash Bros. has without question the widest range of enjoyment of any fighting game ever produced, being a notable pick up 'n' play party to a highly competitive tournament scene.

Do you know anything at all about this game series? Or even fighting games as a whole?

...I'm looking forward to the Wii making games with more realistic graphics. Just hooked it to online a couple nights ago and though there are more options now as far as loading up older titles... it still seems more like drunken fun play than real gaming.

I would like to do a trial of Gods and Heroes if it ever comes out.

...Leisure Suit Larry I suspect would 'cause a few domestic disputes.Smiley: tongue

Cause they want to make sure that it's perfect.
They aren't Sigil, they don't release a game early because they are running out of budget.
Vanguard is good but it could be sooo much better (decided to give it another go, rogues are fun, getting stuck on a rock is not >.>)

This just made me laugh! ;o

I really only play MMO's (though I AM gonna play Smash!), so mostly AoC, WAR, and a bunch of original Koreans MMO's that are being published now in the US...though I normally enjoy the European launch more then the NA.

I've played it. It sucks. You can hit just about any button you want and win fights if you get lucky enough to have the right powerup drop closer to you than your opponent. The game can be won through shear luck, not skill. The very first time I played it, I was able two beat people that had played it for months with ease, even though I had no real experience with the game at all.

If you want a good fighting game, I suggest the Virtua Fighter series. To win fights in that game you have to know what your doing, have good timing and reflexes and take advantage of your opponents weaknesses.

Super Smash Brothers is a great game, and I agree with what most of ALlegory said - BUT - Turin is right in a lot of it being luck based. Also, some characters are just a lot more powerful than others.

Here is the huge flaw in your argument. Items can be turned off, and are always set to off for tournaments. If you are playing with people who play with items on you are not playing a competitive smash game.

Anything else you think is wrong with smash? If you have the time I'd enjoy hearing every single fault you find with smash, because I believe they're made, just as the first one you presented, with no knowledge of how the game is played competitively.

I've played Virtua Fighter and it is a great game with a significant degree of depth, but Smash has arguably a similar degree of depth.

It's not luck based when you play with items turned off, which is how all competitive smash tournaments are played.

Most fighting games have stronger and weaker characters, these are often ordered into "tier lists." The tiers in Smash are no more significant than in most fighting games except for Virtua Fighter 5 (which is slightly more balanced in terms of character ability than most other fighters presently out).
