The Decline of Video GamesFollow

#27 Mar 13 2008 at 4:21 PM Rating: Good
My hope is that the stories will catch up to the graphics. In my opinion, FFXII had a great story but everyone here hated it because it was too political.

The sad fact is that development costs of a video game now are so high, that you almost have to have a "super hit" to even pay for it. And that means that gaming companies are going to regurgitate games that are popular until there is no new real innovation and just a series of FPS's that have a new game every year or so. I think that's what I've always liked about the Final Fantasy series, they've always tried something new with each iteration (with the exception of X-2).

For me, I'm looking forward to:

Crisis Core
White Knight Story
Final Fantasy XIII

As for now, I'm playing Grandia III for the first time and enjoying myself immensely, this game is fantastic.

Somebody really doesn't like the people in this thread. I still stand by my original opinion that people just turn into whiny, crotchety old ******* as they get older. How is Bioshock not better than every Atari game combined again? Let me know when you can decently answer that question.

Wow, somebody sure doesn't like my opinion. Smiley: lol

Ratchet and Clank?

Ratchet & Clank was actually pretty fun. But there was almost 0 replayability.

I liked Folk Soul/Folklore, and Valkyrie of the Battlefield: Gallian Chronicles, (Valkyria Chronicles) should be coming out within the next few months.

It's ironic about challenge. Most older games you could beat in a day of normal play. Most arcade games you could beat in thirty minutes. Games were challenging to disguise extremely short playtime lengths, not as some hardcore ideal.

It's only gotten better.

I got me some WinKAWAKs action happening on my Pc, and some King of Fighters.
KoF games kept me sane through college and continue to entertain me as every fight is different.
