So yesterday, I bought myself "Professor Layton and the Curious Village", then today I bought the brand spankin new "Ace Attorney" game.
Anyways, Professor Layton is a (for the lack of a better word) cute little mystery. It has great graphics, and has that "Point and Click-First Person Adventure" theme about it. There are some little videos that really capture the charm of the game. To progress in the game, you need to solve riddles, simple ones like the old "You need to cross a river with a wolf, lamb, and cabbage" riddle, slide riddles, math riddles, lateral thinking puzzles, logical thinking puzzles, among others. The game is short though (I beat it within ~5hrs). Its definitely worth a check though.
As for the new Ace Attorney game, the first case you take on isn't as much as the "beginner" cases from past games, but plays more like the fourth case of the third game. You hit the ground running with a "marathon" courtroom case, already full of twists and turns. There is still no quicksave option which I still pine for in these games though. Regardless, there is no more psyche locks! Yay! And after each save point, your health bar is refilled. The new "Gotcha!" system is pretty interesting too, catching people's body movements to know when they're lying. The new game takes the full advantage of the DS capabilities (unlike the past three (sans the fifth case in the first game) which were all GBA ports to the DS). The movies are better, the graphics are more crisp, there are 3D elements to the game, and you get to examine items, like the fifth case of the first game.
Anyways, I'm craving mysteries and puzzles. What are some other games to look at?
