Things I don't like about LOTROFollow

Hello all,

Long time Alla user, first time LOTRO posting. So I've been playing for about 2 weeks now, after making the switch from WoW. I started out with FFXI, and I really enjoy how they seem to have combined the best elements from both games. The game, overall, is very well done, and I am truly having a good time playing. The community is SO much nicer as well. I don't think I could ever go back to dealing with the WoW d-bags.

As of right now, I have a level 19 elf lore master. I enjoy it, but am a bit disappointed that they are not the ones that can port, and they aren't really DPSers. I know, LOTR != WoW, so I might as well just get used to it.

However, there are a few things I really don't like. I figure I'd list them to maybe get some discussion going, or maybe even some advice if there are solutions available.

1) There is no maximized windowed mode.

In WoW, I could have the settings such that the game took up the entire screen (no title bar or other window ornaments), yet I could alt-tab to other programs, while still seeing the full WoW screen in the background. Granted, LOTRO graphics are much much more intense than WoW graphics, so maybe it's just a limitation on that.

2) Loading screens galore.

They aren't very long, so I guess in that respect it's ok. I don't mind them going into instances or whatnot, but seeing them every time I open a door disrupts the continuity of game play for me. Maybe I'm just spoiled by the simplistic nature of WoW that allows them to not have these screens.

3) Lag?

I'm not really sure if it's lag or not. Every once in a while, my character loses the ability to move. He can spin around, and see other people moving, but he cannot move at all. After about 30 seconds, he finally frees up again.... usually almost dead. Is that how the game handles lag? It's very odd.

4) Town layout.

Who decided to put the AH, Vault, and Craft hall as far away from each other as possible? It's really inconvenient. I am referring to Bree, in this case.

1. Never used this. I can Ctr/Alt/Del out of LoTR to my desktop if I need to.

2. Lots when going in and out of interiors of buildings etc. Not so much when zoning. You can go from Needlehole to Rivendell without a loading screen.

3. Lags a bit for me. Fiddle with your settings. You may need to sacrifice resolution for playability. Sucks but thats true for lots of games. Most times it is server load.

4. Seems they heard this complaint and although it is too late for Bree, the Rangers in Esteldin are on the fore-front of conveinence. :) I thnk the main reason they did this in the beginning was to cut lag. If everyone in Bree was in the same spot, crafting, AH-ing and banking it would be a fps nightmare.

Regarding to the Loremaster class... Don't be to disappointed, at lvl 50 the Loremaster is one of the best DPS, and you will be surprised how much better the loremaster gets... So don't give up on it yet..:)
