MY experience with mass effectFollow

#1 Mar 11 2008 at 6:12 PM Rating: Decent
I've beenyearning for Mass Effect since release, and are just now getting the chance to play it as I FINALLY found it in stock somewhere. So far I have to say, I freaking love this game. Even more so than halo. I'm officially a mass effect fan girl and cannot wait for the sequels. I love playing m vanguard and sentinel classes. The dialouge is extremely amazing.

LOL, bit of an inside joke for people who don't know that DNF has been in "development" for about 10 years. Maybe more.

I disagree, Mass Effect was desgined from the ground up as a killer ap for the 360. So like halo and gears before it, I doubt it will translate as well to the PC. You will have the addition of macros I suppose. But one of the core elements of combat is stopping the action to select your parties abilities to use at that moment. I never even use the map ability feature.

Mass Effect = 10/10

I'm a halo fangirl but I <3 mass effect so much more. I bought the prequel novel earlier last year. I plan to buy all the books... any merchandise... and the next two sequels. =D.

"The PC version of the Interactive Achievement Award-winning game will feature revamped versions of the original game's oft-criticized inventory system and decryption minigames. It will also allow for hot key assignment for a more action-oriented "Run & Gun" style of play, and it will have graphics rejiggered for higher resolution PC displays."
"A number of modifications have been made for the PC version, including a new squad-control interface that lets players issue separate commands to each squad member. There will also be hotkey functionality for psionic powers and abilities, and redesigned Mako vehicle controls for exploring planets.

Other addi"

combine that with the fac tthat bioware is really a PC dev, and im prety sure it wille easily be the better version

I imagine this game was developed with XNA and so shouldn't be too hard to port to the PC from the 360.

Well Draeneipally they already have an expansion out for download on XBL for about 90 minutes of extra mass effect I believe.

My brother said so the other day.

I FREAKING LOVE MASS EFFECT.

Sniper ftw.

That's like going from playing guitar to banging rocks together in terms of difficulty.

Maybe some people don't like the extremely balanced multi-player of halo3. It actually takes a lot of skill to l24shot with the battle rifle as opposed to shooting through walls with 1-hit kills in COD4s M16 with stopping power and DP.

Surely there is a reason HAlo 3 is MLG's flagship title.

So, Goldeneye = Guitar ; Halo = Banging Rocks?

Smiley: nod

Goldeneye is the shooter to beat all shooters.
Just there were more people and more servers for the goldeneye mod for HL2 (Such a great remake of it)

Goldeneye was good for its time, the controls havnt stood the test of time though.

now, if it was converted to be either K+M or dual analog than it might be a different story

MasterOfWar I don't see how having analog movement would be a significant improvement over the c buttons. You considered K&M superior, but that has digital movement input as well.

Having to use the Analog stick and the c buttons required a helluva lot more skill than K&M.
IMO, the only shooter that ever came close to goldeneye was it's cousin (in a matter of speaking) Perfect Dark.

you cant see how i consider an analog stick for looking a significant improvment over 4 buttons? really?

did something get confused here? a mouse or a thumbstick would be vastly superior to the c buttons, i cant see how it wouldnt be superior.

unless theres something about teh control scheme im not remembering, was it not thumbstick=move, buttons=look?

or was it a freakish mix of the 2?

last time i played was on my xbox, where i attempted to set the emulator controls as close to DA as possible, but it didnt work out well.

i would imagine using 2 controllers(which i think i saw in the options) would make the controls decent, but would be a bit awkward

You could alter the control scheme. I never played with anyone who did not use control style 1.2, where c buttons move and control stick looked.

that would still be weird, movement with the right, look with the left.

now, i could see maybe dpad move, thumbstick look being better, but then youd pretty much lose all those side buttons.

honestly i wish i could try the double controller thing
