So I beat the SSE, and Marth finally appeared in my list! Yay.

Told you. Smiley: tongue

Also, I now have all the characters (went back and got Wolf in SSE, the other 2 I got from doing the events).

Sidestep and/or midair dodge would probably work. You'll probably have to sidestep since he launches like three rings of death. Practice on the boss run on easy, since he only does about 20 dmg with each of those on easy difficulty.

While I wasn't able to dodge his attack, per say, I was able to not instadie. I was playing as Diddy Kong, and a green metallic box appeared, I slapped it on, and Tabuu used his instakill move. Now, I had ~~35% damage on me already, and all it did was kinda push me over a few inches on screen.

So far, thats the only way I know to not die from that attack.

89% done with Intense SEE. I just cleared all of the maze bosses, so I believe I only have Tabuu left.

I'm not so much annoyed by having to back track everything in the maze as I am relieved with how incredibly easy it it. Since there are doors everywhere that means there are save points everywhere, but rarely do I need one because I am never forced to fight the henchman. Most of the bosses are easier now that I have a tactic done, and the evil versions of characters are ridiculously easy because although they have an upper level AI they don't receive any damage or knockback bonus.

Tabuu should be a piece of cake. I'm only worried about the last 100% of the game.

Let me rephrase that. The only way that it might be possible to dodge his attack is a midair dodge and/or sidestep, because those typically dodge anything. One other possibility might be running out of range, but that would require a lot of speed and a character with amazing recovery, if it is even possible.

I don't think running out of range works; they probably fill the entire screen.

It is possible to midair dodge all 3; I did it somehow (twice), but it was pretty much luck with spamming R and L Smiley: tongue. I don't think just dodging would be fast enough, but I could be wrong.

Well SSE is not beaten on Intense. I'm slightly annoyed there is no reward, only a message announcing "Hey thanks for accomplishing the most annoying task in the game!" Maybe I'll get something for collecting all 100% of the stuff, but I'm not going to be touching SSE for some time.

Tip for most SSE bosses: Charizard's rock smash does horrendous amounts of damage if you hit inside of them with it. I've three shot a boss on intense with it.

Will this work with Master Hand / Crazy Hand as well? Or were stickers a factor?

Stickers help, but the attack is enormously powerful on its own. Rock Smash destroys large immobile characters.

Lucario's dair may also be spammed to rack up the damage on bosses who don't move for long enough periods of time.

#39 Mar 17 2008 at 5:23 AM Rating: Good
As some one who mains Lucario and ROB, Lucarios dair is nice but it doesnt bring the power you think. Only the last hit is the strongest so If you connect make sure you connect with that one as it is the one with the knockback.

Also fox/falco have better a better mvoe that does the same thing.

I almost made it through boss battles on intense with Charizard thanks to learning about rock smash, but Tabuu killed me.

By the way, his one shot angel wing kill thing is easily mid-air dodge-able with a bit of practice.

Two hits takes either of them down in boss rush.

Unfortunately you're going to have to complete it, because golden hammers cannot be used on boss battles from what I've heard.

I am annoyed by the boss battle system. Not because it is difficult, but because its difficult is inconsistent with the rest of the game. All the other game modes allow for continues to complete intense; boss battles do not. Most of the other challenges in the game can be avoided with golden hammers; boss battles cannot.

Sakurai is evil.

Also congratulations Ikkian.

Can you clarify? I thought the hammers on the challenges screen were only to break open blue areas to reveal what needs to be done; can they actually grant you the achievement without having to do it?

I've saved all of my hammers so far, so I do not know any of this from experience, but I've heard they are for obtaining the reward without completing the challenge.

IF you go into the Vault Ikkian and then go to Challenges you'll see a wall of tasks to complete (though many are hidden in the beginning). You'll also notice that you have some golden hammers, and you can get a finite amount more by completing some challenges. These hammers are used to break the class, which I believe means obtaining the challenge reward without actually completing the task.

I remember seeing those hammers...thanks for telling me their uses though.

I tried using a hammer on the Intense Boss Battles achievement (very top left) since I probably won't ever get that anyway... and no go. So I think that they're only for breaking blue squares to see what they are for.

wasn't it stated on dojo that there are some challenge rewards that the hammers can't break?

Oh, but you should also know that there are some windows even a trusty Golden Hammer won’t break.

it also shows that you can break unknown ones as a caption.

They do give you the trophy, not just reveal it. I used one on the "defeat 10 enemies in cruel brawl" sticker, since I'm probably not going to be able to do that. You just can't use them on boss battles. There are a few things that they can't break though, such as the boss battles, and stuff like "clear classic with all characters" or something like that. I'd definitely save two for the 5 and 10 cruel brawl rewards though, because cruel brawl is no joke.

I'm almost done with the wall of stuff; I've managed to expose all of it and I'm just working on the really difficult things now.

Cruel brawl can be completed with one of two strategies. The first I've been unsuccessful with, and is about using marth/ike to repeatedly ^b the edge to slowly kill them. The problem is for some reason I will occasionally not grab the edge.

The second strategy has earned me the kill 5 in cruel melee trophy. Choose either kirby or metaknight (I suppose pit works as well) and repeatedly bait your opponents off the edge. They jump out and sometimes mess up jumping back, falling to their death.
