Is there a free trial of some kind?

If not, can someone tell me why I should try EVE?(even though this sounds a little sarcastic, I really want to know about the game)

The EVE trial is good for 14 days.

Why you should try EVE? That's a little more tricky. The game is completely non-linear. Skill training is based in real time, not skill or level based. You can be as involved in the politics of the world (real via the Council of Stellar Management or virtual via in game alliances and such) as you wish.

You can PvP, or not. You can PvP sometimes, or not. You can mine, haul, shoot up NPC pi-"rats", process ores, play the market (buy low, sell high somewhere else), help newbies, completely ignore other people, become the head of a multi-racial corp (guild) or remain in your own little world filled with scum sucking Caldari who's true hope it is to enslave the Minmatar race once again! /endrant ;p

It's really a very open ended game with easy controls that will take you years to master. It's fun, and while I am a fan boy to my core - I believe everyone should attempt EVE at least once, and for at least 2 months (to really get the hang of it). It's so different from any other MMO out there, how can you say no!?

Good luck! And I'll see you on Trinity! =)

Well, I've enjoyed 14 days of free play, and I love the game. I'll probably keep playing as soon as I have enough money.

another option that CCP gives is buying time cards with in-game ISK if your RL cash is short

Yeah, I heard about that but just couldn't manage to make 150,000,000ISK in two weeks. Smiley: frown

You can buy game time for in-game credits?

Wouldn't that, in a way, make the game free? Provided scraping together 150 million ISK is easy for you. Sounds great, but not very profitable for CCP or whatever their name is.

I just bought the game (have been playing trials on and off since before I played WoW) after watching the new Empyrean Age trailer. This game deserves my donation and it's about time I get a new addiction.

Always have been a sci-fi fanboy, so why the hell didn't I do this earlier? Also, the game has come a long way since the early tutorial thing. Oh god, I remember reading through that 400-page on-screen tutorial twice. The new action paced tutorial is really awesome.

I think I've added you to my address book. I'm a little rusty still since it's been, what, half a year?

Anyway, the name's Mazra'h in-game. Silly me took the name Mazra on my trial accounts and now I can't log on them to delete the chars.

make sure you only buy game time codes from the official eve websites secure trading service. any other method could cause your account to be deleted. CCP are very tough on unauthorised trading, so regardless of what the various unofficial traders might say, dont be mislead, because CCP are very very keen on this subject. If your unsure as to how to go about it, its here;
