The
EVE trial is good for 14 days.
Why you should try EVE? That's a little more tricky. The game is completely non-linear. Skill training is based in real time, not skill or level based. You can be as involved in the politics of the world (real via the Council of Stellar Management or virtual via in game alliances and such) as you wish.
You can PvP, or not. You can PvP sometimes, or not. You can mine, haul, shoot up NPC pi-"rats", process ores, play the market (buy low, sell high somewhere else), help newbies, completely ignore other people, become the head of a multi-racial corp (guild) or remain in your own little world filled with scum sucking Caldari who's true hope it is to enslave the Minmatar race once again! /endrant ;p
It's really a very open ended game with easy controls that will take you years to master. It's fun, and while I am a fan boy to my core - I believe everyone should attempt EVE at least once, and for at least 2 months (to really get the hang of it). It's so different from any other MMO out there, how can you say no!?
Good luck! And I'll see you on Trinity! =)
