Does anyone know of a site with a sortable equipment guide? I've looked through the guides here, and they don't help much. LOTRO.com doesn't have anything.

What I'm basically looking for is a site that allows you to filter equipment by class, level, slot, and stat boosts. Maybe even one that links you to possible sources of those items.

Is there a wiki somewhere?

I found this one a while back but never used it much. Not sure if it has what you want but is worth a shot.

Thanks for the link! I've browsed their equipment section. It must be very new, because its practically empty.

I'm actually rather surprised that after a year of live service, there isn't more info on this game. I guess I'm just used to playing a 5-year-old game with volumes upon volumes of material written on it.

I'd suggest looking through quest guides, since a majority of equipment and weapons come from them. There are random items that do drop from mobs, but its just that...random.

There are quite a bit of things you can get from factions and barter items (Mpvp area, the Rift, etc), but those aren't until later in the game.

It doesn't seem like people take character performance as seriously in this game as some I'm used to.

My original character on Windfola is also a hobbit burglar named Ormac. He's only lvl 20, but I got all the +AGI gear I could so that he'd do a devestating Surprise Strike.

I like simple guides that let you find gear with certain stats on them.

The major flaw with making a guide to show where and what to get, is that its not standard. A goblin in one area has the same chance of dropping a +5 agility pants, as a wolf does in another area.

I wouldnt say that people dont take performance seriously, but a majority of your character attributes wont be coming from your gear, they will instead be coming from the traits that you do. Now that doesnt mean you should ignore good stat gear, just that most gear wont even start getting unique until the higher levels, or until you start hitting the massive group quests.

I've found that generally speaking crafted crits, with a few exceptions, are pretty much about as good as it gets until the really top end level 50 raid or higher end pvmp stuff comes in to play. Even then a lot of the crafted gear is comparable in most slots.

Take a peek at some of the crafted stuff, particularly the single use recipe items (crits can be elusive on these), ask a gm crafter what it takes to make it, help get some of the mats, get spiffy stuff.

I use the AH as a window shopping tool. It's not perfect, but if I have a decent idea of what I'm after for stats it's not bad. It seems like better than half of the time I find out that a piece I'm drooling over on the AH is a crafted crit.
