You guys don't talk much around here.

I'm not sure how to manage my traits. I started out equipping traits based on the ones that had just kind of fallen into my lap while doing other stuff. I would simply equip those virtues that I had at the highest levels.

Since then I've made some effort to do deeds to get the traits I though would be more beneficial to me - and have equipped them. At the same time, however, I keep completing other deeds that increase the levels of virtues I don't have equipped. I have two virtues at higher levels than most of my equipped virtues.

So, is it wise to equip those virtues with the highest level despite the fact that they don't really seem to be the ones I'd want. (because actually I'm not really positive how the different virtues might affect my ability to kill a mob while also preserving my toons morale).

Secondly, I have a racial trait that lengthens the timed effect of my ballads, but in doing so causes the ballad not to do any damage. I don't have the trait equipped as I mostly solo and need that damage to kill the mob, however when grouping, it would be really sweet to have those effects last longer. So, the question is do people regularly switch out traits based on circumstances...or...should I be finding a bard to switch out traits before heading out to MH for a group?

Lastly, do you ever get to have more than 5 virtues equipped at one time?

I'm not an expert, but:

I believe like in most other games, there are setups (dare I say... specs?) that are more beneficial for soloing, and then other that are more beneficial for grouping.

If you were planning on spending the day in the rift, you'd go to a bard and equip your group traits.

If you were planning to spend the day farming mobs somewhere, equip your solo traits.

It's pretty cheap to switch them out, in the grand scheme of things. I'd expect that if you were planning to be a serious, end game raider, you have worked on all the virtues that maximize your potential in a raid setting, and have those equipped at raid time.

I'd also imagine you might at some point have separate sets of gear for each situation as well, for much the same reason.

As a minstrel, you are going to be looking for different traits than I did as a champ....But its definately worth researching a bit on the minstrel boards for reccomendations from other minstrels..

I really think that the difference between maxed (suitable) traits at lvl 50, and little or no traits at the same lvl, is roughly equivelant in survivability and effectiveness, as maybe 6 or 7 lvls would be. In some circumstances, traits>equipment.

And don't forget to get 'Fidelity' done for the shadow mitigation. You gonna need it when you get to the Rift.

There are builds. "Specs" if you will. Tank minstrels, tank champions (vs dps ones), etc.

For virtues, it depends 100% on your build. If you're going to be a healing build, use your fate and will (and power/IC/NCPR) virtues. Fate influences tactical (heal) crit %, and will increases your power pool. If you want to do more of a defensive minstrel, go for something like vit/might (for morale and block %, as well as common mitigation.

Basically, each virtue has 3 things in it.

If you know the breakdown of stats, the only other things traits can have on them are: Armour Value, In-Combat and Non-Combat Power/Morale regen, straight Morale, and straight Power. I can't recall off the top of my head if any virtues can directly influence critical %s, but I don't think you have to worry about that.

So no, just because you have, say, Loyalty 3, doesn't mean you should necessarily equip that over your Determination 1, if your build so desires it. (Poor example, since I don't remember many of the traits =/)
