So one thing I'm a little confused about on brawl.Follow

Now I don't particularly like doing timed matches, I prefer bog standard 10 stock fights. I have tried a few online games, but on the character selection screen, when I go to the top to change the type of match (as you would with the offline matches) nothing happens, so my question is, in the online matches, is 2 minute KO-fest the only type of match you can do? If not, how do you change it so you can play a stock match?

I think it is, when you're brawling with anyone. You can switch up the rules when you're playing with friends though.

When you select brawl with anyone several features are removed. You cannot change the type of match (2 minute free for all only), you cannot have text taunts, you cannot know your opponents, you can only vote for items, and you can only vote for stages.

It is incredibly limiting. I can understand have preset game types, but only having timed? Almost no one plays timed, and it has remained the default match type since SSB. It's no fun either because to win all you have to do is poach kills.

Exactly.

I.E. playing as Luigi becomes pretty easy, because his C > move is rather quick, and so everytime someone gets near me I just do that and usually win.

RJ has friend codes? Would you be able to play with your brother's across the sea?

Yes I can play across the sea with you Kayne, but I don't have the friend code, I'll probably get it later maybe.

Sorry, kinda random question.

remorajunbao, you use the Freeloader right? Are you prompted to update once logging online (For the first time I mean.) And did this have any effect on playing Brawl?

I got it myself :) And want to make sure that I won't bugger up Brawl by playing online before I actually buy the equipment to do so.

Uhhhh I don't think there was any update prompt.

You just stick in the freeloader, the screen goes weird for a few seconds, then you stick in brawl and play to your hearts content.
