New to LOTRO, Question about Server Follow

#1 May 29 2008 at 8:28 PM Rating: Decent
I am planning on getting lotro, I am downloading the free trial right now and try it out. Just two questions, I came from wow, does lotro have a similar game play to wow? like raids and dungeons. Are there server time? west coast server, east coast server.. pacific , central..etc, where can I check it if there is possibly a server time?

Similar HUD, but most players I talk to that came from WoW will say thats where the similarity ends. I never played wow past the noob zone and it does share similarities such as quest icons, menu set up, and probably other things that I just dont remember.

Most 'dungeons' are instanced zones. You can exit and enter at your whim. There are areas that are locked until you're on a quest..and some only during the quest and never again. (You can repeat these quests though, via a reflecting pool).

I have no idea what the raids in WoW are like. Currently there are 2 raid zones. One being a 12 man instance (2 groups of 6), the other being a full 24 person instance. Once inside the progress itself is locked. If you defeat Mr BadGuy, it acts as a flag and while I'm not sure on the reset time, it does stay flagged that way until it resets. (Note: that doesnt mean they wont respawn, which can be an issue).

Check the OForums HERE for a list of servers. I dont think any of them mention they are specific to a coast, though unofficialy they might be.

The Allakhazam kinship "There is no fifth star" is located on Meneldor, we accept members of all classes/levels and have a wide variety of players that constantly shift depending on what hours you play.

Any wrong information I gave you was completely on purpose and I will blame it on my meds.

Things I sometimes play...

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
"I want to be a unicorn!"
"Awww, why's that?"........
"So I can stab people with my face."

As far as I know, all the server's are basically the same. The server's aren't specified for time zones or anything else; they're just there.

Brandywine is apparently most populated.
Meneldor has "There is No Fifth Star".

All servers are located in the US, on the east coast. (except euro servers, which are in the UK I believe)

AS for "unofficial" status

Meneldor - PvMP
LandroVal - Role Playing
Elendilmir - Oceania (Australian preferred server)
