What class do you play? How are you finding it?

I'd love to hear your experiences with your class.

I've got a Conqueror, and I'm really enjoying it.

The Good: I found it quite intuitive, and easy to play. Easy to level with. It does what it says on the box. Lots of kockbacks and stuns, which are fun as hell, and quite useful. Can wear all kinds of armour and weapons. Lots of nifty-looking combos, and lots of AOE attacks.

We also have pretty good party buffs, especially for other melee classes. I'm not if we'll end up as pure dps in end-game, or buff/AOE. I'm pretty sure we'll rock in PvP, since we can charge/knockback/stun and wear heavy armor.

I've spent my feat in the "Brute" tree (I think that's what it's called), which is basically to improve DPS. We get this "Lumbering Hulk" form that increases our size and damage, but reduces speed. Looks quite cool, and very effective.

Most of the cooldowns are short and sweet.

The Bad: We can't wear shields, at least so far, so we're not much of a tank. I can only use medium armor until 40, but I loose health quite quickly. I can't handle three mobs my level since the early 10s. Two is no prob, but three I take too much damage. We have taunting abilities, but apart from saving casters, I can't see us being real tanks.

I made eight chars straight off the bat, but ive only played my Assassin properly upto now. I rushed through the others just to finish Tort off, gets a bit boring after a few runs through. Its been great, different so to speak. Getting used to the control system was and how the combo`s work has been my only gameplay problem, small one at that. Slowly getting there and enjoying it at the same time.
I keep pulling off screen splattering fatalities, but i dont know how ive done them, ha ha, got sort of an idea.

Now, when i picked the Assassin i didnt think it was going to be like the Rogues in Wow are. So many people are let down because it doesnt "play" like their fave Mmo. Not me, im liking the difference in playstyle/combat style. My feats need working on as im really not sure what works well and what doesnt. No problem, its early days and theres still plenty more to be getting on with.

Ive seen a lot of people moaning that the Assassin is crap at Pve or useless at Pvp. Im not too sure they have played the class enough. I find i can take on 3 of the same mobs of my lvl and just scrape through, thats with firing off combos and not just white damage attacks. With Pvp its the same, combos are everything and you can take someone down of a much higher lvl than yourself (they gotta be an idiot though, lol) with 2 nicely timed combos.

Ive never played a clothie before, the Assassin has his pick of Cloth and Silk products, which is erm,,nice. Not much variety at the moment but ive heard it gets much better.

Ive maxed my Hiding attribute out and am currently working on my climbing stat. I can see me changing some of them around at a later date as ive thrown loads away on what im sure are useless attributes.

Been told the Barbarian is a nice leveller so that is my task over the weekend, get him to atleast 20 and give it a good ol` go.

I play Necro right now, which has been really easy and really challenging. I have a tough time with 3 mobs my level too, but with pets, AOE and some nasty dots, I do pretty well. I can take on an equal lvl boss with no problem so that's all that matters I get. We got a huge buff to mana costs (in that they went way down) recently, so that really helps. Probably my biggest compaint is the spell effects. I know I know, petty, but with a game this good looking, I was hoping for some really cool looking spell animations. Most of them just look like black swirling clouds.

Haven't tried to PvP with Necor yet, I've heard we're a joke though and the first people target. That's why I'm on a PvE server for now :)

I play Assassin, and I'm loving it. It's a very unique take on the class, and one thing I love is the sort of fact that it's not the UBER RAPE WTF class it is in WoW or something. Good thing about this is people get frustrated when they die in PvP to any other class pre level 70. Hopefully this will help keep the retards out of the Assassin class and they can go on to play the OP ranger or whatever.

But the poster above me pretty much covered everything.

Any RPG game I've played, I chose the rogue class to start with. Casting classes are absolutely not my thing. I like to be the sneaky ******* in the background killing dirty and staying out of harms way.

What I like about the rogue classes is that you really need to play the class and can't just pull four mobs of your own level and spank them. I always watch patrol paths and groups before I attack, because when I aggro them too much, I will die! More than once did I look for "vanish" in my combo bar, but no such luck.

The ranger I still need to get used too, I think it'll take more leveling on my part to really get to see the class' bright sides.

Did anybody try all healing classes good enough for a nice review?

I like the Dark Templar. They seem to be able to dish out the damage, and spread it back as healing through the leech abilities.

I tried Bear Shaman, and for how powerful their description makes them sound, at level 6, I can barely handle killing more than 2 level 5-7 pirates in Tortage. For a supposedly strong 2 hand blunt user, they can't handle groups too well (at least, not at this low a level, it may very well change later).

That was exactly why I was wondering about those classes. I tried a Tempest of Set who one-shotted through the first five levels and after that became a very fragile being. At level 11 I stopped playing him... the Bear Shaman I have now is level 10 and doesn't do too much damage, like you said. But I guess that will all be evened out after leveling them up some more.

Anybody has more info on that? :)

I heard only good things about ToS. I levelled one to 20, and found it really strong. From lvl 35 you can AOE grind, and they are apparently pretty good at PvP too. I see a ton on my server, and have read only good things about them.

Don't know about the shaman, though.

The volcano level becomes the rite of passage for the Bear Shaman, it is ridiculously difficult unless you have grinded out a lvl or two. It is a pain until 15, really gets easier at 20. My BS stis at 24 right now, got tired of having to HoT up every single battle and still mash out combos. It's alot of work.

My barb is now at 47 48.

Once I sussed out the feats treee a bit and went 2hander, she's now back to being the mincing machine she was at 20. She was a bit crap for a while, but I was dual wielding (like my champ in LOTRO) and I was missing out on the clobber and knockback and stuns that the 2 hander brings. So now at this lvl i am back to being able to handle 2 or 3 and sometimes 4 at the same or even 1 or 2 higher levels (as long as I get the stuns off at the right time).

She gets Hide, wich is ace. Sneaking up behind someone, wacking them with a crit from sneak attack, clobber and a knockback. They dont even get to their feet again before they are a red stain on the floor.

All in all, now I get her specced well, barbarians ROCK.

I also got an assasin to 20.....Bit undecided atm. Will report back if i get him any higher.

And I got a 12 or 13 conquerer. Ugly as sin, and a vicious git. I think He is going to be a LOT of fun once he gets a few levels and a few feats organised.

Great game tho! I thought it was being a bit easy for a while, but I've since had a few adventures in the Haunted forest and the Ice swamp, and I can see that wading in with swords a-flashing might be fun, but its not going to do the business with the higher lvl content.

I'm keeping my LOTRO account going, 'cause i got the cheap founders pricing, but since starting AoC, I've only logged into Middle Earth to pay the rent on my house.....

AoC could be destined for great things.

One reccomendation tho. Unless you have a good reason....avoid their official forums. A whinier bunch of drop-kicks you will NEVER meet.

After reading this, I'm well-tempted to make a Barb.

My conq has been sitting at level 43 since he got bugged, so I've been playing a HoX on Aquilonia server, and it's a lot of fun. Got her to level 38, and it's been quicker and easier than with my Conq, despite being a pvp server. She tears through stuff so easily it's untrue, and that's after the Fire Lance nerf. Only problem is low survivability, but with an instant CC and some shift running, it's not really an issue. The animations are pretty funky too, one of the spells is called "Eat Your Heart", and when applied on a minion, the HoX tears the mobs heart out, and eats it, regaining health. A bit like the bad guy in Indiana Jones and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Looks pretty sweet.

And yet, I can't bring myself to take her much higher. I'm slightly turned off by the lack of quests, and I can't stand grinding. None of the guilds I've been in so far have been for me, so I think I'll stick to taking a few classes to the 40s until I find one I really like, or a guild I really enjoy being in.

I'm still enjoying the game, but I'm not 100% convinced. Maybe it's because I lack a good guild and something other than levelling to work towards.
