I have one of these kits in my inventory from way back when and haven't used it. I'm thinking of respecting my alt to trader. If I do and use this kit, what will it do? Will I start at a lvl 1 or higher? What is the difference using the kit over going to a respec NPC?
If I don't use the kit, what are these things worth?

is this the kit you got when nge hit?
if it is the way it works is you get 12 respecs for free. how respecs work is say you were a jedi and wanted to do a spy. if you were a 90 jedi you will be a 90 spy. lets say you wanted to go trader. you would go to lvl 1. reason is trader isn't a combat toon. but if you switch back to jedi, spy or any other combat toon you would be 90 cause thats what you were when you left. to take it a step further lets say you wanted to try ent out. you would go to lvl 1 cause it's in it own class seprate from trader or combat. when you go back to any of the other two classes you will be the lvl you left off at.
i know this sounds a little confusing, and it is. but if you take a second to think about it you will get it.
the reason i asked my first question was cause the respec tool i was talking about is the one i know of from when nge hit, but there is another that works a little diffrent. the way it works from what i hear is simple. you go back to lvl 1. hope that answers that question.

sounds like what the anti decay kits turned into, and if thats the case, it restarts you at level one no matter what im pretty sure.
yes, i have a profession restart kit, i got it when i foolishly took an anti decay kit off of a rifle, word is, that it reverts your char to level 1, regardless of what you choose, even if it is the same profession you are already.. value, i have no idea, as its an item i wouldnt use in a million years.. can't imagine anyone else would either somehow ?
i doubt anyone would ever use one, the only thing i could see that would make someone use one is if it reset all your quests aswell, which im 99.99% sure it doesnt.
pure grinding from 1-90 would be teh suck.

its totally ****** worthless. absolute trash. its so you "can start all over at level 1 again".. why anyone would want to do something like that is beyond me
