I've downloaded the SWG 14 day trial, wanted something different to play for a change. Is it worth continuing to play? Ive heard so many bad things about the game over these last couple of days....

you have downloaded the 14 day and played it. do you have fun and enjoy it? are the other people that you can play with and do stuff, i know at low lvls it is hard but do you see other people? if you are having fun why worry about what other people are saying and complaining about. no one can tell you if you should play or not its something you have to do. i know on my server and guild we try to do stuff ranging from pvp to pve. we can all find things we don't like but we still get together and do stuff and have a good time, and when playing a game thats what counts. if you havent played the game yet and just downloaded it why not give it a try and find out for yourself if you like it and not everyone else like it.

Its a question only you can answer, play out the 14 days and if you like it stay and play if you don't then stop, everyone gets something different out of a game so I suggest trying out the different servers both high and low population ones as well as the different classes and make your own mind up.

For the record I would be very surprised if you heard much good about any game because for the most part you only hear from the professional whiners and they will complain about any and every game the vast majority just log in, play and log off without any complaints at all.

This wonderful game offers its players not only a chance to frolick in our favorite Star Wars worlds, but also offers just about any type of gameplay one would desire. If you enjoy constant shooting and blasting, then stick with PVP or space work. If you like to just explore and check out all of the intricacies of the planets. Or you can team up with other players to battle "boss" type enemies. Or just socialize. You get it all, and you get it in the great world of Star Wars. Those that complain weren't happy with anything, and never will be. And the developers of SWG will continue to tweak, change, and alter the game. Some will like it and others will not, but it'll come around again for those that have complaints. Stick with it. For $15 a month its cheap entertainment and keeps the SW world alive for all of us.

Well I must say I am enjoying it, its not too easy, you have to use your brain (unlike some mmorpgs I could mention) I played Everquest for years and this is just as appealing to me.

I hope SoE continue to support it.

I have questions though, is there a planet wide or server/universe wide chat channel?
Is there a trade chat channel?

yes there are many diffrrent types of chat channels. the problem is at least i know of my server no one uses them. but if you right click the chat box i belive and goto add channels it will give you a whole list of diffrent channels that are avaible.

There is but as I understand it they suffer from two problems:
1) The chat system is SWG is horrible to use.
2) Half the time it appears to not work.

For example communication between space and planets seems hit and miss and by all accounts global chat channels are also pretty random.

They have often said that they have access to any technology available in other SOE games well if so they really need to look at the EQ2 UI and start importing vast chunks of it...
- Chat system (just the ability to see active channels by changing the channel tab colour helps a lot, being able to link items).
- Mail system (Sending items, money etc).
- Multiple hot bars
- Shared quests
- Ability to see other group members quests (very useful when helping on quests you have done).
To name a few.

IDK, do you want to play a game where your special is to say shoot a flaming arrow at a woodelf or do you want to blow some space aliens up with an assortment of bombs, rockets, lasers, lightsabers, the force, etc.

Its somewhat a niche` game but it provides a sci-fi'ish pvp fix for me. Then theres space pvp which is sometimes beautiful

Welcome MortalityRate...i hope you enjoy this game, and experience, as much as many of us 4 and 5 year vets have. Shoot straight and shoot often, and the galaxy will be yours. Ritman and Ridman Coreba, Infinity server; Nuncha Ovedia, Wanderhome server
