On the main page for AoC you have the game's information showing with the following included.
Quote:

Last, but not least, Age of Conan also features deep guild systems. The guilds in the game can create entire cities and fight with other players or against the computer for the ownership of these. There is much more to Age of Conan of course, and you can expect to find a vast world with exciting PvE and PvP content.

I would like to point out that this is not a deep guild system, it is a guild system at the most basic level, and there are many bugs with it. First off you as a guild leader can not make more ranks, and you may not change the names of the ranks. You may not change what rank is allowed to do what either, and it leaves out even showing what rank can access the guild bank. The part about cities, man what a waste of time and money! The cities do NOTHING! City Building FAQ To top off that they do NOTHING each section of your city costs 2 gold to make, thats 2 gold per SECTION of wall etc... Now I wouldn't mind spending that if the city actually did something. I am already bored with this MMO, as the crafting in it sucks, and so does the content or lack thereof. I have felt that I bought a BETA game and will not continue to play after my 30 days are up!

Each to their own mate, its early days and things will get better no doubt. Hey, atleast you give it a go. Maybe in a few months it will be to your liking, who knows.

Did they not specifically say that the guild city will add bonuses to the guild member stats? And I believe they mentioned shops in the cities that sell good stuff, as well as crafting places in the city for your guild to make armor/weapons?

Have you even built anything guild related yet? As far as 2 gold goes, ya, it's a lot for one low level character, but you get a full guild, and 2 gold is not that much. Right now I have a level 28 Necro that's got one gold just from auctioning green drops.

Give it some time, so you can see what they actually do, before you claim that they are worthless and suck.

Last I heard, those city bonuses weren't working properly. Not sure if that was correct though, nor if they fixed it by now or not.

I am sorry if I don't accept a poor quality game, but I have learned from a lot of people that initial quality is what counts. You see I work for General Motors, and ALL I hear from people is how ONE thing broke on their car and that makes all GM products suck and they will never buy one again, its funny to me to hear now all these people telling me that I need to give a company time to make corrections and fix the product that I paid for. I demand Quality because Quality is demanded of my work. No one gives GM a break, So I give no other company breaks either.

Yes my guild has built buildings in our city, before that city building FAQ could confirm or deny what the buildings do. The buildings are just for looks. We can not even get the Devs to post a confirmation that this is intended or if it is a bug, or just temporarily turned off.
The pure lack of customer service that Funcom has given us players is a slap in our face.

This game should have been properly beta tested and if all of this content was not ready at the time of launch, they should have either delayed the launch, or told us customers that it was a partial game with a list of what worked and what did not.

If you're so discontent, then why even finish the 30 days?

I disagree completely. Those ppl cannot have played a lot of MMO's then. It's the quick fixes that count and Funcom is fixing things at a rapid rate. Man, have some patience! I'm not saying they're all that awesome, but they're improving things rapidly - see where it ends.

This is a rather childish thing to say. "They do it so I do it as well."
You don't like ppl that tear down GM if one thing isn't in order, yet you do exactly that to Funcom. You expect a reasonable reaction and time to fix things that are broken... the fact that you don't get it doesn't mean you shouldn't give it to others... This game has quality, a lot of it. It has things that aren't finished yet, but it shows a LOT of potential.

I don't think I need to point out what you sound like right now, but it's got acne and trivial issues.

... dude, breathe for a minute here. You sound very disappointed with what you've bought and it's completely understandable. But give them the time and reasonable reaction that you would like to have in your line of work. A reasonable, understanding customer gets more service than an angry one, after all.

Sure, the game isn't finished yet and there's a lot to be added and fixed. But why the lack of patience? There's so many things in the game to enjoy that are not broken or bugged... spend your time on that and let Funcom fix the rest in the meantime. If you can't do that, quit the game and send an angry e-mail to Funcom to ask your money back.

I for one am not content with how the chat system/commands works and that all my guildies are now suddenly in my friends list. But the other aspects of the game are much fun! I too visited our guild city and found it inactive... I wasn't disappointed... it's there and it will work.
