I have to admit, I love Lum's response!

I know it's dangerous to get you folks riled up, but I would hope that someone would have an interesting thought after reading what someone who is responsible has to say - since everyone always demands answers they never seem to get.

well, its taken a few years, and i can only guess at how many pleas/demands/threats etc. if only they hadnt changed the professions though, introducing levels, and taking away choices, was such a huge.. huge mistake, levels = grind, thats all, he's right though in some of the things he says, we probably do view the old pre-cu version through rose coloured glasses, and it did have many, far too many, faults. perhaps 200k players wasnt enough, i guess by todays standards at least, i can't help thinking though, if only they hadnt messed around with so much, yes the combat system was an interesting change, and i've no doubt far more would have been happier to play that way, WOW did set some pretty unrealistic standards though, especially when player numbers broke the 1 million barrier, but people get bored eventually, and the WOW experience is a fairly limited one, at least in comparison to what SWG could offer, SWG suffered from bad marketing, or perhaps, a lack of good marketing, well its not over yet, and swg is still going, a little shaky maybe, but there has been improvement, and quite a bit more room for improvement!

most of the "pre cu ftw lolool" people do seem to see pre cu as perfect, for some reason.

i love the people who say they should rollback to back when the game released, these are the worst, because iirc, there werent even speeders.

i can only imagine how much the game sucked when you had to run 5k to get to a mark, or a shuttleless town.

back in those days, most of the players were on tatooine, you started at mos eisley, learned a few combat skills, in rifle, carbine, or pistol etc, and headed to either bestine (imp) or anchorhead (reb) the distance between bestine and anchorhead isnt really all that great, i've run it quite a few times, either chasing, or being chased, you could almost say that the area between anchorhead and bestine was the games 'unofficial restus' the first modes of transport to be released were mounts, i think, i remember getting my first lizard mount and thinking how much easier it would make it for me to get to my harvestors. but yes, when the game was first released, it wasnt ready, bits were missing, and, when vehicles finally were released, everyone was saying, why can only one person fit in them, when theres 2 or more seats! there were more problems besides this, but just an indication of just how much the pre-cu game was incomplete, even though it probably still remains my favourite version, not for the combat system though, i found that unwieldy, but the mix and match, skill sets, and lack of levels, when pvp was really far from straightforward, it was very hard to determine the strength of another player back then, i still think they should get rid of levels, and bring back the old mix and match professions, but i think the present combat system isnt bad, the wilds of the various planets would certainly be far more fraught with danger anyway.
