For those who don't visit WoW General or Blizzard.com very often, Blizzard has just announced Diablo III!

Gameplay and Cinematic trailers viewable at:

I'm so excited my hands are shaking.

Yes, I'm a geek.

The cinematics forced me to enter geekmode. I'm gonna be giddy all day now.

Been awaiting this announcement for days, what with their splash screen and the news that some announcement would be made. So excited for this... now to find a copy of D2 to play through again to get me even more excited Smiley: grin.

didn't everyone pretty much know this months ago?

We didn't get a bloody awesome cinematic or a hueg liek x-box gameplay video months ago. Nor any sort of real confirmation. I know KotoR III is under development, but I've got no insight in how it's going to be. This news? It's made of awesome and win. I've spent the day giddy as hell, watching the gameplay movie again and again. A proper skill management system in combat? Destructible environment? True three dimensional areas instead of the twodimensional fakes in D2? I'm giggling like a shool-girl at the though of holding the gamebox in my hand. I can't tell you what I'll probably do while installing it, since this isn't the OoT.

Biggest news since Half-Life 2 was announced.

Blizzard's got my stamp of approval. Starcraft 2? Diablo III? Will of the Lich King? All of which are coming in relatively quick succession? I'm going to go into geekmode and stay there for ages. Now if they could only restart the Starcraft: Ghost project but keep it on PC only this time. Then they wouldn't have to worry about consoles messing with the dev-time and tech limits.

I'd never seen that acronym 'til I came on board with Allakhazam. I'm having loads of fun with it!

I noticed that myself. But since it was only herer in this thread, I figured that either someone didn't like Diablo, wanted to be the first to post this, or was mad because it wasn't about Super Smash Brothers. Smiley: wink

Coincidentally, I learned today SSBB is awesome on a 52" TV.

There's been speculation about a Diablo III since shortly after Diablo II: LoD came out. But this is the first official news about it.

I don't suppose anyone here has a D2 cd-key I could borrow? I don't need it for online play, so it's ok if you still use it Smiley: tongue.

uhm, they didn't buy it. It was given to them. Granted, I'm sure the guy got recompense, but it wasn't purchased through normal means, it was offered to them.

Some gaming news sites are reporting that Blizzard "purchased" the diablo3.com domain from me. This is not the case. As I stated in the above post, if it was my intention to make a profit off of the domain, I could've sold it years ago, but I didn't. When Blizzard spoke to me about their interest in the domain, I was happy to give it to them since they had no problems with us moving the site to diablofans.com and will now be working more closely with us in the future. So yeah, I just wanted to clear that up... there is no monetary exchange taking place, I'm simply giving Blizzard the diablo3 domain.

[Edit: as for it being their last franchise, it's fairly well known they're developing another IP for plundering lol]

Nerdgasm!

Was watching the trailers for the Barbarians moves, and omg, so f*cking awesome.
Bout to watch the witch doctor, but this is very very exciting to me, seeing how I'm still an avid player of D2 and D2:LoD.

How avid? I have just started playing again, and would be quite grateful for tips/tricks/help Smiley: smile.

Well at the current moment, I haven't played it for a week, but for the past month or so I played it at least once a day.
What do you want tips on?
What class are you playing?
A quick tip is if you didn't have much trouble beating the end boss of an act, as soon as you finished that act, save your game, go back onto your character, and go kill that boss again.
More loot, More xp.

Well, I'm playing a necro through normal (about to finish 1st act).

I also started an amazon that is purely for fun purposes; I have the item/character editor and wanted to play around with it, but don't know much about it or how to use it properly Smiley: frown.

Playing through as a necro, Amplify Damage is your friend.
If I can find a link to the mod I used to play (before they updated the mod and got rid of my favourite feature) I'll link it.
Pretty much, it added a few new items and monsters to the game, made it a bit harder (some of the caves and other non-essential areas to visit became impossible to go through at the normal level, so you had to go back when you were bout 10 levels higher), the boss of the last act became a normal monster in the next one (fighting 3-4 Andariels at once is fun), but the best part was it allowed you to reallocate skill points and attribute points.

Ah. I didn't really plan on going into that tree at all. I like summoning and bone more Smiley: tongue.

Being able to reallocate skill points would be nice...

I think the mod was called Eastern Sun (Heaps of new items and cube recipes, normal runes are still in the game but must be made by cube recipe from new runes which are japanese characters).

Being able to realllocate skill points helped my druid (he was elemental specced, but act III got too damned hard, so I went to shapeshifting spec, and in the version I was using Elemental form (werebear) was extremely overpowered.)

Unfortunately in the version I was playing there seemed to be a bug with the Mount Arreat Peak entrance to the last dungeon, and made the game crash >_<.
I updated the game and my druid was weak! [:sadpanda:]

But yeah, if you wanna try a really hard version of the game, get LoD 1.09 and get a mod called Zy-el mod.

You start off with no gear, and crap all stuff, monsters are freakin hard.

Necro's in that game area uber.

And for those of you that know the whole player 8 thingy that got introduced in 1.09, Zy-el Mod allows you to go up to players 127 (very very very freakin hard)

Well, there's no point in beating around the bush any longer, so let's get right down to it. A few months ago we were contacted by Blizzard in regards to the Diablo3.com domain name. While they appreciate all the work that's been put into running this big Diablo fan community over the years, they still want the domain name. Hmm, I wonder why? Now before you get all up in arms about it, allow me to explain a few things.

whether they paid for it or not, it sounds like it wasnt offered to them, they went after it, and while there working on another project right now, it could very well be starcraft/warcraft/diablo related for all anyone knows.
