Some Questions from a future playerFollow

#1 Jun 30 2008 at 9:38 AM Rating: Decent
1 - Is payment Credit card only, or is Direct Debit from a Debit card available?

2 - Are all 3 national starting plotlines available to the same character if he travels to the other nations? Or does an Aquilonian only get to do the Aquilonion plotline? Or are they not even plotlines, just normal sets of quests?

3 - What are the control options available? Since the game is out on the 360 next year, is there a pad option?

4 - Anyone know if accounts will be playable on both PC and 360s for people that have both machines, like FFXI? Will they even be on the same servers?

5 - Is there any method yet to move/change server?

6 - Are there seperate servers for US/EU players? If so, are they mandatory or suggested?

7 - How reliant are you on other people? Is general soloing or small (2-3) group work possible? Are players reliant on guilds to take part in sieges/PvP?

8 - How long does it last till level cap?

9 - Is it possibe to respec your character?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

1. I use a debit card just fine.

2. While you can play one of the three starting nations, your quest lines are going to be based on your class more than nationality. However, I am only level 20, and I am still in the starting area.

3. You can play with pad or keyboard on the pc version.

4. I am not entirely sure, but I dont think there will be a problem with logging into your acct from either method.

5. Not sure.

6. There are seperate servers for EU and US locations. They are suggested.

7. I play a Necromancer, I dont have to depend on others to accomplish tasks, however it is nice to be able to get stuff done faster in a group.

8. Dunno. Still only level 20.

9. It is possible to respect within the choosen class, no changing from caster to warrior.

Your welcome if these help.

In addition to the above poster:

2. While the first 20 levels are based on class, the region you are transported to after (your homeland) is based on the race you have chosen. But nothing keeps you from questing in other "homelands" should you so desire.

4. There aren't separate servers as far as I know, but I'm not sure whether you'll need two copies of the game of you plan to play both machines - but hey, I'm not a console fan so I wouldn't know these days.

5. Not that I know of, but I don't think it's really relevant at this stage in the game.

7 - One can solo or group to level cap. There are even solo instances, but it speaks for itself that you can't successfully solo in some parts of the game since it's group content, but I've soloed until now and feel like I didn't miss out on a thing.
About the guild pvp thing, I don't know from experience but I believe that player buildings can only be owned by guilds, even small ones. Could be though that you can join in, but I'm not the one to answer. At this point, siege warfare is still rare - at least on my server.

8 - Don't even go there, if you race to 80 you'll miss so much of a beautiful game that you'll come to regret it. On top of that, end game content still needs to be implemented for the most part. Take your time, enjoy & explore. This is not WoW, where the only thing that mattered is getting level capped.

Rather than start a new thread I'll ask my own questions:

1) I heard that the M rating is keeping most of the screaming children away and that they're actually proactive in making sure adults are the ones playing. Is this true?

2) How is the community in the early stages of this game? Are people helpful? Friendly?

3) I know that PvP is a huge aspect of MMOs but is it such a large part that I'd be odd man out by refusing to participate?

4) How good is the guild setup in this game? Is the support decent?

5) Is there an Allakhazam guild?

On my server? Yes. But some always slip through the net... or it's just that we underestimate the immaturity of some grown men...

I've experienced only one case of griefing until now, but it seemed to be some old, cranky geezer. People are mostly trying to figure out things on their own, but there is enough of grouping and teaming up. I guess it's better, because of the lack of screaming kids who do not yet have the grasp of the unwritten social rules.

Absolutely not. PvP is something you do by choice, and not because you must, unless of course, you roll a pvp server.

I believe the guild structure is rather different than, for instance, WoW. But most guilds I know exist of people who were in another guild in another game. I teamed up with some guildies from WoW, and getting enough support.

I have no idea :) I don't think there is one... yet.
