I hear it went live on test today.

Can anyone play on test?

Do people routinely check out new content before it's released on the regular servers?

Guess I'd best get busy and get 13.9 out of the way.

If I recall correctly, anyone with a payed account can play on test, but you have to download a separate client to do so.

There's a lot more info here

I know Mora and Nobby both log on to test somewhat regularly, but I'm sure there's a standard NDA to keep things pretty much hushed until it goes live. The patch notes can be found via the link above as well.

It hasn't been said yet, (On allah anyways), but book 14 is DAMN sexxah. Dye Preview, Three new instances, Horse Walking, New Emotes, and tons of improvements, a perfect last update before the expac to polish off the game.

The minstrel update looks awesome too, Using other instruments other than the lute for skills has been a major want for me since release.

And new dyes for Scholar! Fun stuff

I hope they add summoning horns to the maps.

I'm looking forward to banging, annoyingly, on my drum.

Yeah, that's gonna be damn cool, wish I hadn't deleted my minstrel. Although, now I wish they had never added bagpipes to the game. X_x o_O >.<

Just a heads up for any Roheryn or wannabe Roheryn players wanting to play with Book 14:

The change to the download patcher means that even if you already have Roheryn installed, you need to uninstall it (and the download manager), then install from scratch again.

So if you haven't tried the preview server and want to footle with Book 14, Click Here to download and install.

The reason for the changes is that rather than a pure download, it uses peer-to-peer technology to optimise download speed.

Enjoy

I only have a drum and a theorbro, for damage and hate. Are there other instruments with mods?

I might have to learn to play the harp.

Hi Elinda,

Harps will reduce power costs on ballads and flutes will reduce power costs of songs (how very green).

Hope that helps:)

Did you just...? oh never mind >.>; Btw as a lore-master, I'm loving the new auto-attack disable thing, no more breaking mezz from auto attacks when the melee tab through mobs.

Hasn't there always been a feature to disable auto-attack? I know theres one for auto target mobs, maybe thats what I was thinking. I wish I could log in and check.

Yes, there is. I usually play with it off. I'll not attack my targetted mob unless I actually hit my 'attack' button OR right click on the mob. It's under options then combat and then it's a toggle on/off up towards the top of the list somewhere.

But other fun stuff - upgrades to Annuminas gear! >>CHECK IT OUT<<

I'm hoping to snag the whole medium set for my Minstrel.

My minstrel will never. Ever. Use anything but a harp again.

I was having a debate about this with a friend of mine. He maintains that it is stupid for your toon not to retaliate when a mob comes up and starts beating on them. I repeated that all you had to do was hit a skill and it would start attacking, but he wanted to see it attack automatically.

I don't agree, but we did try messing with the settings, and I couldn't get my character to auto-attack when attacked. He will ready his weapons, but he never swings until I take action. Am I missing something?

The biggest reason for not wanting your toon to start swinging blindly is breaking mezzes, but it could also bring unwanted agro.

The raid leader I raid with asks that we all turn off auto-attack when raiding. I usually keep it off.

Btw, only hitting a with a melee skill will trip the 'attack' command. If I hit a mob with one of my songs, crys or ballads, I'll still have to manually hit the attack button to start swinging. I'm habituated to it now, but for awhile there I'd be meleeing a monster but forgetting to swing at them;D

What's the deal?

I'm up to Book XIV, Chapter 7 yet the new 'areas' are not open yet?

Or is there not a new zone, just some added in content. (thus far most of 14 has been monster play - blech!)

...anyone know the scoop?

Edited: Chapter 7 is just doing the repeatable ring quest (I've done it once already) to open 'something'. This is perhaps as far as we can go til we open up whatever needs to be open????

another edit: you get a pretty nice bracelet set for 14.5 and 14.6:D

Ok, I guess 14.7 is it until something is unlocked.

What gets unlocked?

Wait, maybe we don't want to know. It'll be better as a surprise.

Btw, before selling off your cloak from 14.1, try it on. It's pretty cool looking;)

I think the general consensus is that what we're unlocking is the Mines of Moria expansion.

Some of it must open up before the actual MoM expansion is released, as book 14 completes Volume 1 (MoM begins Volume 2)???
