Which class would you leave out?Follow

Last night, I was finishing up North Downs quests with my mini-static. We decided to tackle to second tier of DD quests, so I put together a full group. When all was said and done, we had:

Guardian, Minstrel, Captain, Burglar, Hunter, Lore Master

It was pretty cool, no overlap at all, and we had every type of group support possible. Of course, there are 7 classes in the game, not 6. It seemed pretty perfect really that there was no champion. Although they have great DPS and can off tank, CC gets broken way too much for my taste.

If you had to make a group with no class overlap, which class would you leave out?

I'm not terribly well- versed in the different classes yet, but would have a hard time boiling it down to one class.

With that group you could conceivably leave out Minstrel since you have capt. and LM. You could leave in Minstrel bring in champ and leave out Hunter or maybe LM...or keep LM leave out Burg (though everyone seems to want a burglars CJs:D).

Guess it depends. I'd not be too quick to lay the mez-breaking blame on the Champs though. I've been running some of the Annuminas instances lately, so have been called on to mez undead (I play minstrel). Seems that it's ALWAYS a wayward arrow that is breaking mez....hmmm. But also, plenty of other classes use AE's.

Captain is the latest class I'm trying out for an alt. I think I like it, but I think that's cuz it seems to be the closest class to the Minstrel. I still need to try a Champ.

Yeah, pretty much my HoTs and stuff was keeping the tank up. It was nice to have the minstrel there for when it got ugly, but more DPS would probably have made it a non-issue.

I'm not trying to hate on champs, just saying it seemed like a great group even without one! I have not played a champ past level 5 or so, so I have zero idea of what all they bring to the table. The only experience with them I have had is either a lv 50 champ plowing through a much lower level instance, or breaking my mezzes when I'm on my LM.

Personal preference is interesting though. A group would be successful without any one of the 7 classes, and everyone has a bias against one class or another for whatever reason. The reasons for my bias are flimsy and uninformed, and I admit it, but I am interested in hearing about others' thoughts.

I did Fornost at level 42 or so, with me, a PUG LM, and 4 hunters (all level 50, friends of mine). It was quite hilarious, and went very well.

Well, until the end, when the stupid LM rolled on Thunderhead instead of the hunter we decided WOULD get it... then dropped group and killed himself to leave.

/facepalm
