So, I'm at my local gamestop today, and in dire need of a new RPG. I traded in some games, had a $40 credit, and needed to spend. As I'm looking through the Wii library they have there, I spot "Final Fantasy Fables : Chocobo's Dungeon". I was going to play it when I left the mall, but I was with my friend and we ended up playing SSBB for about 3hrs...

REGARDLESS

It is a dungeon crawler, with a twist, kinda. Its a Turn-Based Dungeon-Crawler (like the "Legend of the Unemployed Ninja" game(s)). There's a town, and then theres the dungeons. Each floor of each dungeon is completely randomized, as most dungeon crawlers are. Monsters await every turn, traps are hidden, treasures to be found, yada yada yada etc etc etc.

You play the role of Chocobo, an adventurous and cute chocobo who assists Cid in finding a magical gem to make airships real. You find it, someone else grabs it, you wind up in a weird town.

This weird town has a weird clock tower that erases your memories with the "Bell of Oblivion", and Cid falls under its spell. Suddenly, a meteor crashes through the sky, lands in the town, carrying a baby who can go into people's memories and restore them, but as it is only a baby, it really can't fight off the monsters that lurk inside people's heads. You find a shimmering brooch which allows you to go into their minds and regain their memories.

Small side note, to people who have played FFXI, people's memories remind me a lot of Promyvions.

Regardless, that's about the first 30 minutes of the game, beautiful CS and gameplay included. I recommend it to people who like Final Fantasy and/or Dungeon Crawlers. There is a job system in it, but I haven't gotten that far in it. There's also a card-battle system, that I'm assuming is like the one from the DS Chocobo's Tales (as Treasure Hunter X comes back and gives me a card case, and another treasure hunter gives me a bahamut card).

So, if you're looking for a good game, and have ~$40 to spend, I highly recommend it.

I just played the card game. Its the same as the DS one...and the graphics are the same too, nothing was really updated, and it isn't mandatory. BUT, it's still fun, and its now WiFi (friends only).
