Hopefully it will play kinda like wow and not in anyway like KoToR in combat..
I friggen hated the combat system in KoToR.
It was almost a turn-based shooter >.>

I've actually never played KotoR. A fact which makes most gamer friends grind their teeth in exasperation.

So another Star Wars MMO. Isn't the whole reason KOTOR 1 and 2 were so critically acclaimed because of the choices you could make to effect your alignment of the force? Don't most MMO's already allow--or make--you to choose which side of a battle you wish to be on. EVE? WoW? CoH/CoV? and many more.

I'm still holding out for Stargate.

Eh, I can't say I'm jumping up and down exactly, but it is possibly the first MMO announcement that's actually made my heart skip a beat. The first two games were so good because of the storytelling techniques. This might be good for the same reasons... I mean, Bioware? When the hell did they ever throw out something that wasn't epic?

It was round based combat, taken almost straight from DnD, and it was fantastic.

I'm hoping they make Battlefront online with a Halo type player interaction system.

I never got into KoToR, probably because it wasn't what I hoped it was gonna be (I got it when I was looking for a game like Jedi Academy).

As much as my heart said "leave WoW for it" the instant I read the thread title, my head says "wait and see whether it's fubar'ed as much as Star Wars Galaxies was".

I loved KOTOR 1 and 2 so much but SWG got completely shafted so I don't know.

I loved KOTOR and hope the MMO does it justice. That being said, I am not ready to abandon WoW just yet.

I've been waiting for a game to come around so I can move on from WoW. Quite honestly I'm done at least until the expansion. I'm not a warhammer fan, and I've tried most of the other ones out atm.

I'm really looking forward to KOTOR, The Star Trek MMO, and RO2. If my asian and geek meter did not just rise like 100 points then something is broken.

I don't think thats what he meant. I think he means how many times the game was "overhauled" and changed from the way the original players remember it. So much of the original fanbase just felt like they did not even recognize the game after a few of the big patches and expansions. And this does not even mention all the alterations to the Jedi systems. So many players were basically told their hundreds of hours of playing to get to jedi were for nothing because the next update could possibly make it 20x easier.

wich wouldnt have been needed if there was something to do in teh game besides a few quests and grinding proffs out.

I'd be suspicious of any star wars mmorpg, as we've all see what happened with the mess of SWG, however with bioware developing it, I'm sure it'd be good.

They already have lots of experiance in the RPG field (Both real and turn-based.)

They already have had experiance making a Star Wars RPG.

And they also have the reputation of producing good rpg's.

With that in mind, I'm pretty sure they won't get shafted by the publisher for either time or money. (I'm looking at you, Obsidian!

On the other hand when an mmorpg fails, it fails HARD, after all look at what Earth and Beyond did for westwood. :(

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but unless the publisher does something massively stupid, it should turn out to be a good game.

(And no, it will not be a "Wow-Killer" so shut up.)

KotOR is one of the best games that I have ever played. The thing that makes those games so good is the story line and the choices you can make. They make and break the game. I only love one game more than KotOR, WoW.
