Do any of you live near a Game Stop that has ever ONCE had a game in when they say they'd have a game in excluding extremely over-hyped, highly anticipated titles like Super Smash Brothers: Brawl?
Talked to them Sunday, they showed me in their little note book where they have Final Fantasy IV's release marked as 7/21/08, so they said it should be in the following day, which is today.
I go in to get it and the poor dude behind the counter gets this pained look on his face because he knows he's about to tell me something I don't want to hear, which is that it didn't come in.
For ****'s sake! Why do they always do that? I'm serious. I've never ONCE had any GameStop location get a game in that I wanted the day they said they'd get it in. Additionally, they always also try to play off the the "release date" isn't really the release date, but the shipping date, but that's another rant for another day.
I felt bad for the guy behind the counter though. The way he reacted to my asking him if it was in makes me feel like someone yelled at him about it already.
That or he's just sick of having to tell people bad news. Smiley: lol

I forgot that came out today.

I'm still playing FFVI or I'd go pick it up right now.

Walmart/Target/K-Mart/Toys-r-US/ {You can have this}

Seriously why even go to game stores anyway. I know of what you speak but unless you know its gonna be sold out then why not just go to one of the above stores and get it?

Its like pre-ordering a game you know isnt exactly popular but you are sure they will have copies of, its pointless, just got to walmart.

Why set your self up for disappointment?

The release date is the release date. Most major stores will have stacks of boxes containing the game upwards of a week before release with giant DO NOT RELEASE UNTIL xx/xx/xxxx stickers plastered all over them. Gamestop is just notorious for making up release dates or not updating their books when a release date has been pushed back.

Last launch game I bought was GTAIV. Joined the Best Buy queue at 11:45PM and easily managed to snag one of the few hundred copies. I've never had any issues with Gamestop. Maybe it's because you live in ******* Alabama. We all know the distributors could give a **** about AL.

I trade in my games that collect dust. I never pay more than $10 for a brand-spanking new game.

Also, Usagi, Lern2Call, you lolrdmmelee.

You are wrong. We only have stacks of games in before the release date when the game is street dated, such as GTA 4, or Guitar Hero DS, or brawl. The release dates listed in the system of gamestop are the dates on which games ship to the stores; they are also updated automatically. FFIV was the 21st, and it is supposed to be there on the 22nd. I don't know why this is hard to believe.

Do you know that if you buy used games from gamestop you can take them back to the store for any reason in the world within seven days for your money back? Do you understand how you could basically get a free seven day rental of almost any game this way? Stop trading in you're games; you get sh*t for them.

Actually, I started pre-ordering my games from them because they were the only ones in my area that had games on time. Even joined the midnight releases each time they were available and had no issue whatsoever. Now EB on the other hand, I have had to wait an extra week on a few pre-order cause they couldn't get their heads out of their asses.
