for the playstation 2. That is a TWO.

I've realized the wii is a failure device. I really wish I had gotten an xbox instead.

Anyways, I'm looking to pick up ps2 titles I may have missed a while back. I like rpg and action games. No guns, no GTA, no driving games. recommend me some stuff =]

I have similar interests as you (rpg and action). RPGs will be bolded; SRPGs will be underlined; Action will be italicized. My ps2 library is as follows.

Atelier Iris, Eternal Mana
Baldur's Gate, Dark Alliance
Dark Cloud@
Dark Cloud 2
Disgaea@
Disgaea 2@
Front Mission 4
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy XI
ICO*
Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts 2
La Pucelle@
MGS 2,3 (and get twin snakes if you can find it; it will play on your wii and is the definitive version of MGS1 for the gamecube)
Phantom Brave@
Shadow of the Colossus*
Star Ocean, Til the end of time
Suikoden III
Suikoden IV
Suikoden V
Suikoden Tactics
Wild Arms 4
Xenosaga
Xenosaga 2
Xenosaga 3

*These are almost in a class of their own. Both are simply phenomenal and can only be called works of art. For SotC, imagine zelda with no enemies, no dungeons, and a ton of bosses, along with a fantastically rich and open world and a story that is just... ineffable.

@NIS is a fantastic developer. They have also done a more recent game called Odin Sphere which I've yet to play.

Also, since I'm feeling generous, and am sad that you do not like the wii, I will recommend some games on the gamecube that you might like, so that you may get the most use out of the wii.

Lost Kingdoms - Action rpg with cards as weapons. I've been told it's kind of like folklore
Metroid Prime - Adventure game in the guise of an fps.
Skies of Arcadia - Awesome rpg with lovable characters and a headquarters system second only to suikoden
Tales of Symphonia - Traditional tales game, innovates nothing but is very enjoyable
Zelda: Four Swords Adventures - Don't believe that you need four people for this. It's traditional zelda, only with levels instead of a map.

Also, get Okami if you haven't already. I can't rave enough about that game. It is available on both the ps2 and the wii.

Anything else for you?

Forgot some

Two castlevanias are on the ps2: Curse of Darkness and Lament of Innocence. A lot of people don't like them because they really aren't all about the exploration like most 2d castlevanias are. 2D Caslevania really plays a lot like metroid, but as far as action games go, the 3D ones are pretty good, as long as you're okay with more action than exploration.

I would love to get some gamecube games, but am unwilling to buy a gamecube controller at this time. I have always wanted to play both of the baten kaitos games as well as tales of symphonia(I liked Lloyd in Soul Calibur Legends)

I always liked Dragon Ball Z Budokai 1 & 2.

Since you didn't address any of the games that I mentioned of the ps2 section (assuming that you've played/heard of them already), maybe I can persuade you to change your mind and get a gamecube controller by listing the rest of my library.

Evolution Worlds - A quirky little rpg that was ported to the cube from the then-dying Dreamcast (*cry* why'd you have to go). It's solid enough, but kind of short.
Killer Sev... actually you probably wouldn't care for that one
Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance - This is the BEST Fire Emblem that I have played. Some of the characters are amazingly deep, and the gameplay is just fantastic strategic clashes between your armies. Permanent deaths suck for some people but never bothered me. You're Mileage may vary, but (fyi) it's mostly easy enough to get through without anyone dying, unless you're playing maniac.
Starfox: Dinosaur planet - An almost complete zelda clone, for better or worse. If you like zelda than pick it up; just don't expect starfox 64
Starfox Assault: Expect starfox 64. There are several land missions and tank missions as well, both of which are done adequately, and the arwing combat is supurb.
Rogue Squadron 2 and 3 - They don't quite live up the the original on the 64, but damn they get close. Worth buying if you like star wars, but I know you are looking for more action and less vehicle, so maybe not (also, they are notoriously difficult)

A bunch of zeldas. You can play every zelda on the cube in some way except for Link to the Past (I believe)

Atelier Iris, Eternal Mana
Baldur's Gate, Dark Alliance- rented once, didn't care for it
Dark Cloud@-own
Dark Cloud 2=own
Disgaea@
Disgaea 2@
Front Mission 4
Final Fantasy X own 2 copies lol
Final Fantasy XI
ICO*
Kingdom Hearts own
Kingdom Hearts 2 own
La Pucelle@
MGS 2,3 (and get twin snakes if you can find it; it will play on your wii and is the definitive version of MGS1 for the gamecube)
Phantom Brave@
Shadow of the Colossus*
Star Ocean, Til the end of time own it, it's too damn long and boring
Suikoden III have heard good things
Suikoden IV
Suikoden V
Suikoden Tactics
Wild Arms 4
Xenosaga own it, never beat it. I think I'm near the end but this ****** puzzle pissed me off so I gave up
Xenosaga 2 saw it at gamestop today
Xenosaga 3 saw it at gamestop today

I bought shadow hearts a while back, even though I never finished it - I always thought it was ok. I saw the second and third(story unrelated to the first two) at gamestop today. I thought about purchasing them, but left the store because it was crowded and I was annoyed. I would really like to get a copy of grandia III and shin megami tensei:nocturne.

I really need to get an xbox360 or ps3. The wii really did turn out to be a novelty console, it seems. Feel free to recommend games for the wii though, in case there are a few that might be worth my while.

Guitar Hero III: Legends of rock.

Okay, it's not an rpg but there is action. Strumming action.

EDIT: Oops you've got a Wii so chances are you'd have this game already unless you haven't tried it yet. It's worth a try and it's cheaper on the ps2 than Wii (in the UK at least).

Okay then here are some specific recommendations.

Get Suikoden III and V. IV is not really worth playing for anyone but a diehard fan. V is the best one since II (Suikoden II is a perfect 10 for me, by the way)

Get Atelier Iris (Eternal Mana). It is an awesome NIS rpg where the main character is basically a black mage, alchemist type thing with a cute little story, but it's a solid rpg with some nice characters.

Xenosaga has a fantastic story. Each game has a radically different battles and skill system however, and there are a ton of cutscences. If you want to get the rest of the story (it won't make sense until midway through the second) then go ahead and youtube the ending and buy number II.

Also, see if you can find shadow of the colossus used at gamestop and give it a try. If you don't like it by the end of the first colossus then take it back, but I think that you should try out this game.

Here are games that I would recommend on the wii

Okami - (and on ps2) Read my thread about it for how awesome I think it is.

No More Heroes - Action game with plenty of flaws, but the design, concept, and characters make you forgive it for them.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn - This is the direct sequel to Path of Radiance, and the story and characters are all superb. The only problem is that this game is hard, very hard. There are some situations where, if you are trying to play without losing any characters, you will scream. I finished it and love it; your mileage may vary.

I have no more heroes...and once again...never beat it. I'm at the last stage, but I'm burned out on collecting money, so I can't do the mission yet. I know there's also another boss fight versus Harry or whatever his name was. I think I'll just pick up the two shadow hearts sequels and finally finish xenosaga, and get the second and/or third game(depending on availability)

Xenosaga is definitely a game to finish. I had it at the last dungeon before Albedo for a year myself before finishing it. I finished it mostly due to my mother having played the second and third and wanting to talk to me about the story, bless that woman.

Also, Tales of Symphonia 2 will be out on the wii in another few months or so. It's not much but it is a good rpg to which you can look forward on the wii.

I can't remember why I never finished xenosaga... I read somewhere that after you finish a certain puzzle it would be wise to backtrack all the way back to such and such a place(the last save point, I think) and it pissed me off beyond belief.

Maybe I'll start from the beginning and do it all again. I have difficulty picking up a game I haven't played in a while unless I start from scratch. Otherwise I won't remember worth **** what all I had done.

I know you said no guns but I still have to recommend it, Star Wars: Battlefront. Great game.

No man seriously

You don't need to, not at all. Nothing in xenosaga makes @#%^ all sense until the next game. They had to cut it short from six games to three unfortunately, but it's the most complex story that I've ever seen (aside from chrono cross possibly)

Thankfully, Xenosaga II and III have a library that will recapitulate the entire plot of the first game for you.

Lets see if I can remember this...

You're on the Woglinde and finish the kos test get attacked by gnosis. Shinon goes through whitening but neither turns to salt nor turns into a gnosis. Escape that. Cut to Ziggy rescuing Momo from the big religious cult Ormus who had kidnapped her because they had been attempting to find Earth (lost a long long time ago aming the communications reallays lets see... Junior is a weapon to contain UDO you do not know what UDO is but UDO is bad juju. Jr rescuse shion and kos you go to durandal and meet ziggy and momo. YOu are also being informed as to what the zohar emulator does. The zohar was a super powerful source of energy discovered on earth somehow and Ormus thinks of it as divine. Then sh*t gets blown up as albedo kidnaps momo and takes her to Proto Merkabah, a superweapon that could stop the gnosis.

YOu'll really start to get the religious imagrey around episode 2 and you'll discover why something so conspicuously called "gnosis" is so important.

I'm hoping beyond hope for them to finish the games. It was supposed to be a hexilogy (or whatever you call six seried things) until they ran out of money :(

Other topics of note. Episode 3 has one of the best fight and death scenes of anything that I've ever seen. Not telling you who or what fights or dies.
