I'm looking for some fun, non-resident evil/shooter type games to play on the Wii. I'd prefer to avoid sports games if possible. Any suggestions?

We currently have:

Mario Strikers
Mario Kart
Mario Galaxy
Zack and Wiki
The Zelda One (Twilight Princess)
Rayman Raving Rabbids (Best Drunk game EVAH)
Wii Fit
Wii Sports
Tiger Woods PGA Golf '08
and Wii Play

On Wii Ware
we have Dr. Mario,

Virtual Console
Original Zelda
Super Mario Bros. 3
Bubble Bobble
A few others

Metroid Prime 3

You don't want shooters but I cant in good conscience call metroid prime a shooter. You shoot, but that's incidental to the exploration and finding all of the power ups. Shooting is not the focus of the game, although it is a lot of the activity.

Trauma Center: Second Op
Trauma Center: New Blood

Second Opinion is a remake of Under the Knife, and it is very very good. New Blood is a totally different story and is also two player. You also get a lot of really cool operations in it, such as bone reconstruction, brain surgery, and skin grafts.

Brawl

It's a fun fighting game with an entirely unique control system.

Okami

If you like zelda, you will like okami.

It does use motion sensing, but the internal gyroscope does most of the work. Acceleration, timing, and speed are more crucial then placement. Honey bought it. He ended up doing it one handed and doing much better. ;o

He says "Did I like Tiger Woods Golf? I dunno, I got over it quickly, but was it because I was more into MMOs, or the game wasn't that great? I think it was more that I wasn't that good at it. I don't remember exactly."

Helpful huh?

;o

[Edit: Thanks Pensive! I've heard a lot of good things about Trauma Center, I'll have to check it out!]

Super Smash Brothers Brawl.

Seriously. If you don't have this already, you must proceed to the nearest location and purchase it.

There's about 10 that I'd rate over a 7. It has more than the ps3 does.

Guitar Hero / Rock Band.

It's multi-format and definitely available on the Wii.

Much as I liked it, I can't recommend it to a lot of people. It's a game that you sort of have to be in a certain type of mood to play at all.

We go over to our friends house for Rock Band (I think it is...the one with the drums?) for pizza and hanging out while playing. It's not something my honey or I would play on our own, and certainly not something we'd grind through or enjoy playing solo.

We did think about it, especially with all the hype. Same with Brawl, but I might have to consider it again!

Thanks guys! I'm definitely gonna take a look at all of the suggestions once I get home!

I think that if you do decide to grab Brawl, you'll be most pleasantly surprised. It's really fun, and even better when you've got someone to be playing with! (It features co-op modes for almost all aspects of its gameplay now, so you and your honey could play through the story line mode together, or just sit down and duke it out. Smiley: tongue)

I was at gamestop today looking through their book of releases and noticed a castlevania slated for the wii. Who knows? Maybe it will be awsome

Oh wait, I googled it and it's a fighting game lol

Or is it.. the details mention stages. Whatever it might be a keeper.

What I really want to see right now is a starfox, a pikmin, and a wii fire emblem (radiant dawn is a gcn port.)

Oh how that operation kicked my bootay. T_T Finally got it, though.

If you're into the "watching the grass grow" type of games, Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility is coming out this month. :D

>.> And if it's ever released in the states, go get Fatal Frame IV. *nod nod*

I know it's not stuff you can get right away... o.o but I'm totally jumping on them all ravenous-like when they're released. XD

If you haven't already played the PS2 version, I highly recommend Okami.

Yesh, the trick was to prepare panels only in multiples of four and do the grafts one at a time. Took me ages to S it.

I also loooved the brain surgery

I haven't finished the game so I'm not hardcore on scores yet, but for those that I have gone back to do for funsiez I've only gotten like a B. >.<

The Adventures of Zack & Wiki is suprisingly fun, and you can get it for under $20.

Yeah trauma center takes a lot of practice. It seemed easier to get SS's in the first game, and I've never done hard mode in New Blood, but I played Second Opinion to death. The final boss in Second Opinion was one of my favorite fights ever. I can't S that one either; I had to settle for an A with old Savato.

I assume you're not aiming that towards me, since not only is the game already listed above on "games I own" I also did a review here!

Either way, agreed 100% ;p

Boom Blox was a good time. It sort of looks like a stupid premise, but i've played it on several occassions and somehow it hooks me for hours. There is just something satisfying about chucking bombs and bowling balls at stuff and knocking it down.

If you can rent it or something to check it out, I recommend it. You'll know in 30 min wether you love it or not.
