I saw this video today, and found my same saying "God Damn!" throughout the entire thing. The guy playing basically uses the broken wall jump ability to basically skip over half the game in a dash to the finish.

I've seen lots of similar videos with amazing speed runs. Apparently this video's time has since been beaten, though he did make a lot of mistakes.

Metroid's fantastic for runs like that.

You haven't lived until you've done a <15% 1:30 run of Zero Mission. Of course a > 1 hour run isn't anywhere near the records, but for normal players of games like that it's a fantastic challenge.

The only tough part in a Super run is that when a wall jump fails, you're done. You don't have the ability to re-enter a roll in mid air so if you lose the spin then you have to start the entire jump again.

I'm a huge fan of speed runs, both tool-assisted and non-TAS... my favorite has to be the 0 Star Super Mario 64 TAS run...

I like speed runs like the infamous Super Mario Bros. ones, but honestly, it's kind of hard to sit and watch some of the longer ones for newer games. I see posts where people are talking about a "speed run" of a modern game taking 2 hours. While I know that is impressive for a game that typically takes over 20 hours to beat, it just doesn't get the pulse pounding like some of the old school games that are done in a matter of minutes.
