I've been playing the Baldur's Gate Saga since my WoW subscription is cancelled for now, and I need my fill of killing things. In my opinion, these are two of the best computer RPG's ever made. Of course, my experience is rather limited, but the first few minutes of Planescape: Torment kind of disappointed me, so I didn't play it. I'm curious about what computer RPG's people played before the MMO craze hit, or at least, before it was really big. Like I said, the Baldur's Gate games are my all-time favorites, and I've played them several times. I won't go into express detail as to why, but somehow, seeing or hearing the words "Go for the eyes, Boo! GO FOR THE EYES!" makes me laugh no matter how many times I hear it, and has earned me many a strange look from my wife.

You point, I punch.

You ought to give Planescape Torment another try. Once you get further into it it's going to blow your mind. Seriously, it bloody rocks. I personally fell in love with the Neverwinter Nights games. The first I spent two years playing (with playermade addons) and the second has provided just as much entertainment.

You've already mentioned Baldur's Gate Saga. I will see that Baldur's Gate and raise you Icewind Dale. Same company, same engine, same awesomeness.

In newer games, I'd throw you Knights of the Old Republic. The first was the best KotoR game, the second wasn't quite as good but still worth playing. Mass Effect will also provide excellent storyline and character interaction. Should you decide to play Mass Effect, I would like to point out following quote from Wikipedia on ME2:

Wikipedia wrote:
Casey Hudson, Project Director for BioWare, has said that players should keep their Mass Effect save-files[citation needed], because decisions made by the player in the first game will continue to have influences on their character in the sequel.[2] Players who have not played the first Mass Effect will start a new character in Mass Effect 2, and will be brought up to speed on the story elements that have taken place thus far in the series.[3] It is highly recommended, however, that people play the first game before playing the sequel. Hudson also states that characters from the previous game will return, provided that they were not killed.[2]

I agree with North, Planescape:Torment is one of my all-time favorites. Unfortunately I've never finished it. I also like Baldurs Gate, never finished it either. I've finished Icewind Dale, but something was wrong because I never got my end-game movie. You really can't go wrong when Bioware puts their name on something.

I'll give Planescape another shot, someday. I've wanted to play the NWN games, but I'm cheap, so I use torrents, and have yet to find a decent one for NWN 1. I don't think my PC will run NWN 2. I started to play IWD many years ago, when it first came out, I want to play that too. I've played both KoTOR and KoTOR 2 on the Xbox, never on the PC. Great games, but I still prefer the Baldur's Gate games over them :). What I would like to see is a game similar to the Forgotten Realms games set in the Dragonlance setting. I think Bioware, or an equally good company, would do an amazing job.

WoW FTW.

Oblivion is fun to just **** around on. Then it gets boring.
