I bought it last night on the VC, and I have it for the SNES. My SNES is hooked up, and Super Mario RPG is currently the cartridge inside. Cartridges don't last forever, I figure 20 years from now my SNES won't work anymore - but I'm betting my wii still will.

To me, the VC is a way to preserve games of days past for which the cartridges will one day expire. This is one reason I really really wish they release Star Tropics 2: Zoda's revenge on the VC...because my cartridge for that game has already died.

I agree, my original NES still works without having to do the blowing trick to get the cartridges to read. Physical objects will last longer then virtual services that will be discontinued when the company finds no more financial benefits to keep it running.

I have the games downloaded to my wii(a physical object) Nintendo discontinuing the VC service isn't going to change that. I'm betting my wii has a better chance of still functioning in 20 years than an nes cartridge that's already 20 years old.

Almost all of my NES games have a dead battery, and even some of my SNES games are going south. The VC helps me get past that.

I downloaded this game today and have played a little bit, so far it's pretty fun. Never got to play this as a kid, so this is an exciting prospect for me.

Mario, puffball, and elf dude is a better party than mario, chickyboo, and lizardman. By better I mean, it's more challenging.

WHERE IS MAH EARTHBOUND AND FIRE EMBLEM /cruisecontrol

Please nintendo pleeeeeeaaase translate famicom wars and mother and VC them

Also, illusion of gaia

Mind that I haven't checked the VC in months so i'd happily wear egg on my face if any of these have been VC'd yet

Does anyone else remember the original commercial for mario rpg? It was like these two old dudes yelling about the seven stars. I used to be scared of them.

The fact that SMRPG was released leads me to believe earthbound will soon follow, and my reasoning for this is pure, unfounded, speculation.

I doubt Mother1 will ever be released though.

Agreed, it's pretty darn tricky fighting smithy and thatsecretbosstherethatsomeone'sgoingtocorrectmeon without Toadstool in the heavy shell using Group Hug every turn, and bowser to crank out damage.

I should try out a different method though.

What secret boss? Is it the one battle where it plays FF4 music? You know...the "shiny" boss?

He's kind of easy compared to smithy.

I never did beat SMRPG

I was 12 and it was the first day of school. I tripped and fell onto an open cabinent door and sliced my chest in two peices. The next four days were me playing SMRPG and I got to smithy and just kept losing and losing and losing.

Speaking of which I can't wait for sonic rpg. It's bioware so it at least has a fighting chance of being good.w

Last time I played SMRPG I beat smithy by accident. I went in with mallow and geno just to see what it would be like without the princess, and totally expected to lose. Somehow, I cleaned house.

I've always prefered Geno over Bowser, even though Bowser pretty much owns him. I've always just found Geno pretty cool, ever since I saw the preview(the thing that plays at some games' startup screen if you don't push any buttons) and I saw Geno use his first special (The thing that looks like a kamehameha, but always seems to do ****** damage)

The failing to beat smithy or the huge laceration? hahaha

I love the VC.

I've been shopping more and more at playntrade now than gamestop. Since their a franchise and not corporation the owner has a lot more autonomy within his own store. It leads to a laid back environment that gamestop just doesn't have.

But the best part is that they carry a little bit of everything. I saw a sega master system under the glass for like 20 bucks.

Both. So I'm considering reading through a strategy guide just to become of aware of some of the larger secrets, of which there are apparently multitudes; I would be sorry to miss out on some of the best equipment Smiley: smile.

I was trying not to provide spoilers.

I never found Culex to be very difficult at all. I usually beat him at the earliest point in the game at which I can fight him. I tend to heavily abuse rock candy.

I always found Culex to be a lot harder than Smithy. Smithy was more of an endurance run, while Culex was a fight to survive.

Also the best parts of that game were Booster and the Axim Rangers Smiley: lol
