I kinda want to play another Tales game (I beat Tales of Symphonia on the Gamecube) and am looking here for suggestions as to which I should get.

I have a PS2 and Gamecube, but I would prefer it be for the PS2, as I don't really feel like bringing the GC to school with me.

I would like the one with the deepest, most emotionally complex story that also has a good battle system (I gather they are all alike?) and I'm a graphics *****, but that is secondary to the storyline.

Other RPGs I loved: Xenosaga series, FF Series, KH I and II.

RPGs I hated: Persona 3 (I just got so bored that I stopped playing in like Nov.) and Star Ocean 3 (it had potential but failed).

Thanks for the help!

Abyss and Legendia are on ps2 iirc. Eternia is ps1 iirc and would probably work in your ps2. Vesperia just came out on the 360. Abyss has one of the highest ratings i've seen.

Phantasia is available on the gba. You might be able to emulate it if you can't find it in a store (cos it is kind of a dead platform now.) I liked it a lot more than symphonia.

Tales of the Abyss is an awesome game, though it DOES run a bit sluggish (world map). It's still fun nonetheless. I plan on replaying it a second time through on a harder difficulty.

Tales of Legendia I've heard isnt that great. One of the weaker Tales titles. I'm still gonna give it a try, since I did buy it for around 5$ >_>.

Tales of Vesperia I've heard is really good as well, if you have or plan to buy a 360. It's a really well polished game and a general improvement on the battle system used in Tales of the Abyss. It did well enough to sell out the 360 in Japan for a week.

Vesperia is okay so far. I don't like the battle system quite as much as in symphonia, mostly because you don't start with a backstep, and yuri's weapon skills are not what I've come to see as staples, such as demon fang and sonic thrust, etc. The story is absolutely typical so far, with some decent characters.

I'd honestly prefer a regular turn based fight system but for a real time system, it works fine.

As far as you can judge something ten hours into it, it's thoroughly decent. 6.5/10

If you REALLY like the Tales series, I recommend you to play the actual good ones not the commercial ones from Ps2 -> current ones (not saying i dont like them, because I actually do like some parts of them I just think the old ones are better, since they are not been released like one per year milking the poor series)

There's Phantasia (SNES-PSX-GBA)
Eternia (PSX)
Destiny (PSX-PS2) <- my favorite
Tales of the worlds (if you like random questing, I believe theres one in english for PSP)

hm I cant remember any others, the rest are japan only so I didnt bother posting them unless youre into playing thing you dont understand
EDIT: A personal favorite I always find fun to play no matter how old it is, is Earthbound (SNES) love that series.
