PS3 Must have games, FPS need not apply.Follow

If all goes according to plan, I will be getting a PS3 this weekend for mah burfday. YAY!

I'll probably be getting MGS4, and two other games to be decided, but I wanted to know what you guys think are some must have titles for the PS3. Please note, that I despise 99% of all console FPS games, so unless the game has a stellar lineage, or has a control scheme with a controller that doesn't feel like I'm piloting a mobile turret, then don't bother with it.

Are there any good RPG's?

MGS4 is really the only big game out for the console thats of any major awesomeness. I can recommend Need for Speed: Carbon. Prostreet was horrible so stay away from it.

Other the MGS4 and NFS:C I would say the Grand Turismo demo thingy. Thats about it.

Valkyria Chronicles should be coming out in November.

I heard about this up and coming series. Final Fantasy or something. People think it might catch on.

as far as games that are out now (imo) mgs4 is a must, gran turismo Prologue is sweet if you are a turismo fan waiting for the real deal... Devil May Cry 4 is worth a look if you like action. some of the psn games are great (again imo) Everyday Shooter (^^), pain (mindless yet fun), bionic commando + mega man 9 (on other systems but a sweet taste of oldschool.. anyway feel free to add me "AtomskXI" to your psn friend list

So I got the PS3 on monday, and so far, I'm way happier with it than I was with a 360. Downloads are a little slow through a wifi connection, but that's not a major concern. If I'm downloading something big, I usually already plan on doing it at the end of the day, letting it D/L through the night, and wake up the next day ready to play my demos/games.

I downloaded the free PS2 emulator, because it apparently works with the newer 80GB model that I bought, haven't tried it out yet, but probably won't do that for a long time, anyone have problems with it? It sounds like there's a PSX emulator built in, or is that just part of the PS2 emulator? I'm confused about that part.

One quibble though, I didn't realize that the PS3 library was as small as it is, that's a bit of a concern, but I'm sure that once winter really hits, the titles will start pouring in.

I really like the PS3s menu system much more than the 360s, it just makes more sense to me.

As far as games go, I picked up a used copy of MGS4, and a used copy of Ratchet & Clank, because I love that series. I put the full price of Fallout 3 down in a preorder, so I get to look forward to that on release day. I'm looking around for a used copy of Folklore, because the vids I've seen are cool, and the demo was fun enough. I really just like the theme of the story, I'm a sucker for modern day fairy tales. Plus, it's got that pokemonesque GOTTA CATCH EM ALL gameplay that I'm an even bigger sucker for.

I also just bought and began downloading Wipeout HD, which I'm absolutely 100% psyched to play, I have yet to find a game in that series that I don't like, and this one is basically a "Best of" game, so how can it possibly be bad?

Hey, someone with more experience answer this, WTF is the point of linking your PSP to your PS3?

You can play PS1 games on your PSP via that link, that's about it for me.

What's your PSN ID? I'll add you as a friend.

Oh? You have a release date for that? It's quickly approaching Duke Nukem status as vaporware.

I wouldn't mind playing White Knight Story as well, but haven't heard anything about when it's coming out either.

I'm NixNot on the PSN, not sure if the caps matter, but both N's are capitalized dammit!

So, the PS3 does have a built in PSX emulator, but not a PS2 emulator? (which I downloaded but haven't tried)

Then I can connect my PSP to my PS3 wirelessly, or through the usb port, and play PSX games on my PSP? Really? that's actually kinda cool, and makes me glad that Gamestop doesn't buy PSX games anymore. If that means I can play FFIX on my PSP, I may actually get some more use out of my PSP, and want to go pick up some more PSX titles for dirt cheap. Is that whole mess very difficult? Moreso than "1. Register PSP, 2. Insert PSX disk, 3. Enjoy portable PSX goodness."

EDIT: Also, Wipeout HD is ******* awesome. My only qualm is on Zone trials, when you pass through certain zone markers, the color scheme of the race changes color, somewhere around flash or rapier speeds, the zone changed to this awful neon red color scheme that made the track lose all definition on turns and bumps, enough to make piloting corners near impossible.

it shouldn't have a psx emulator, it should have the actual psx parts in it.

Either or, I should really look into this whole PSX on my PSP deal.

That was suprisingly easy. You can play PSX, PS2, PS3, and downloaded games on your PSP. That's really ******* cool. I don't see me getting a lot of mileage out of the higher end games, specifically, ones that use most/all of the playstation controller buttons and dohickies. But for replaying FF9 and other simpler games, this is really going to give my PS3 a lot more play than I would normally get out of a console.

A+ Sony, job well done, it's the kind of connectivity that Nintendo wishes they had while they really tried to cram the GC/GBA connectivity down gamers throats.

I played FF9 on my PSP while watching NCIS, and the newest episode of Project Runway. Aside from a touch of lag on occasion, it was rather flawless.

Yep it works well. Now that I have my hacked PSP I don't use that feature as much since I can play them directly on the PSP, but it's still handy to have.

There is no exclusive must have titles on the PS3 that I Want right now. Final Fantasy 13 is going to be on Xbox 360 as well now. I have always loved the Final Fantasy games, however if 13 is going to be like 12 they can just keep the game.

I know Metal Gear games are popular but I just can't take the insane difficulty of those games. I tried the first one for PS1 and I think I played the 3rd one on the PS3 and meh..

All the other good games on Ps3 are pretty much available on the 360.
