Hello all, I'm the new Allakhazam news reporter. I just wanted to introduce myself and share some LotRO info.

Many of you probably already know, but for those who don't, Oct. 2-6 is "Welcome Back" weekend. All players will receive a +25% experience bonus during that time. Also, the event grants free access to returning Lord of the Rings players.

On a side note, I'm currently trying out the 14-day free trial. I've never played LotRO before, even though I'm a huge fan of the novels and films. I'm having a good time so far, although I'm only a level 5 hobbit minstrel.

Congrats on the news reporter job, and welcome to LoTRO. IMO, Minstrel is easily the best class of the game;)

I had not heard about the 25%xp increase. That's kind of interesting. A trick EQ didn't have to resort to until it's 5th year or so.

Guess maybe I'll go level up an alt. Wonder is there is any corresponding inf increase for pvp (since creeps don't get xp)??

EQ started resorting to it on RARE occasions shortly after Planes of Power, due to the massive downtimes. It didn't become a regular occurrence until Omens of War, though.

I don't think the reason it took them so long had anything to do with the game's supposed "falling popularity" though. I'd wager another game did it first and EQ decided to copy the idea because, well, people like it.
