eq2 and wowFollow

#1 Oct 15 2008 at 7:34 AM Rating: Sub-Default
I just wanted to give my opinion and get everyone elses
thoughts as to why wow is more popular then eq2. My
husband and I recently started look for a new mmo to
play. We had played eq for a few years but quit for a
while and then eventually decide to get back into one.
We both loved eq but we wanted to try something different.
We got warhammer first. It was ok but not what we were
looking for. So then we got the trial edition of wow
so we could try it out before we bought it and not make
the same mistake we did with warhammer. Good thing we
did because we were ready to quit as soon as we got
to the character selection screen. Now I heard that
it had more of a cartoony feel to the graphics but man
they wern't kidding. Its just my opinion but I thought
it was horrible and pretty much could not get use to it.
Game play was ok but almost too easy. I did think the
grind in eq was a bit much but this was way to much to
the other extream. So we decided to go for eq2. We did
try it when it first launched but were having too much
fun with eq at the time we never really gave it a chance.
this second time we absolutly loved it. It has changed
so much from when it first lauched all pretty much for
the better. It too bad sony does not advertise this.
I think many more would play if they did. It has a great
crafting system, you can solo to lvl 80 if you want,
although it may take longer, and the quests are great
and you can play for an hour and acomplish something or
do some of the longer quests. I think it give a lot of
content for casual or hardcore players. And you can
group or go solo and have fun either way. I know this is
long but I think people would really like this mmo if
they gave it a chance. It has really improved for those of you who have not tried it since launch.

If I can convince other people it is a good game, then maybe I will convince myself?

So basicly you like EQ2 and don't like WoW.

If you where to go on 1-9 chat on any night of the week on EQ2 you would hear that Virbatum a dozen times.

If you where to sit in Stormwind on any given night you would hear people saying the complete opposite.

Only you would probably find people who knew how to use a word processor and make a legable post.

It should be noted that it took me significantly longer to get too lvl 40 in WoW than it did on EQ2, I find combat equally easy in EQ2 and I rarely if ever have to group even for blue "group of three or more" mobs.

moreover the Market in EQ2 makes it insanely easy to upgrade gear compaired to WoW so you are always in gear within 10 lvls, which is not always the case in WoW especially with early characters.

I prefer EQ2 as a game but WoW is not an easier game to play, far from it.
