Hello!
As you can see I'm new to LOTRO. I've played FFXI for 4 years or so, and wanted a change, and this looked to fit my style. I've been doing a lot of searching but I'm still left with a few questions.
First of all, I've looked through both the Lorebook and Allakhazam and neither database seems to have quest walkthroughs. I know quests are much more straightforward than in FFXI (which are impossible without online guides), but I was just wondering if there's a database somewhere.
My next questions are harder. What are the customs and courtesies like in LOTRO? For example last night I found a bunch of goblins beating on a level 5 character. I helped kill some because I figured he was going to die, but in FFXI it is considered very rude to attack monsters someone else is fighting. What are the standard conventions here?
And what about fellowship? I know you can solo to 50 if you want, but do some people form exp parties (mandatory in FFXI), or are fellowships just for quests? And what about kinships? Are they stable and constant? I've been in the same linkshell (equivalent) in FFXI for well over a year, we have forums to keep in touch out of game too.
I guess my last question is endgame. I've read some similar threads on here but I haven't really gotten a feel for what endgame is like. Is it mostly instanced? Are there high level monster camps? I only have FFXI to compare to, and historically FFXI endgame is monster camps (HNM), with a few instanced/pseudo instanced events (Dynamis, Limbus, etc). Do you do endgame events with the same Kinship?
I know that's a lot, sorry. If anyone's played both FFXI and LOTRO who could help explain these that'd be awesome, thanks.
