Just so that I can stop hijacking other threads where people talk about liking the worst FF games, I'll just make my own.

The following are the worst FF games with reasons.

Final Fantasy X-2: It didn't need a sequel, they got rid of everything good about FFX, it didn't make sense, all it was was scantilly clad girl running around slapping things, and that got old after an hour or so.

Final Fantasy X: To be honest, I kind of liked this one because of the battle system and sphere grid...until I reached the end. I want to find the person responsible for the following two things: First, whose goddman idea was it to force Auto-life on your party in the last battle? I actually triedto dispell it...didn't work. @#%^ you game designers, @#%^ you. Second, who the hell decided that Ultima and Omega weapon needed to be turned into joke monsters?

Final Fantasy 4: They're lucky I made it past the unneccesarily long intro. They're lucky I didn't stop playing after the ship sank...they're lucky I didn't stop playing after they turned my awesome Leader into a pussified Paladin...they're lucky I didn't stop playing when I realized that it took an hour to train up one level. They're just plain lucky that I didn't just stop and sell the game before i beat it. I can't think of a game I'd rather play less than this one.

Final Fantasy 12: This is not a Final Fantasy game, IMHO, real-time combat has no place in a Final Fantasy game(outside of Adventure, but that one was done right as it was about as good as a Legend of Zelda game). If 13 doesn't bring back everything good about the FF series, I'm not even going to bother trying newer SquareEnix games anymore.

Final Fantasy 11: Smiley: disappointed I gave it a shot, it was terrible.

Final Fantasy 1: Putting tips about where to go and what to do into the game would have been nice...just sayin'.

Ok, you guys can come tell me how wrong I am now. I've omitted FFTA & FFTA2 just because I don't feel like discussing them further.

I suppose we can. I never took Mystic Quest seriously as a Final Fantasy game, I just saw it as an easy way to kill a couple hours.

Worst one by far was X-2, I enjoyed the music video CS more than the actual gameplay <.<

I absolutely disliked 7 will all my might. It sucked, annoyed me. Characters were boring and they killed the only interesting one. Yuffie was funny though.

I liked the others.

7 will always live on as my first love when it comes to RPG's.
Before I played FF7, the closest I had come to RPG's was probably Shining Force I and II.

7 was and still is awesome in my books, and I also loved 8.

I loved the fact that the summons actually gave you additional powers, instead of just having Guardian Force to summon.

9 was good, and I still need to find a copy somewhere.

10 I will never complete all the sidequests of (F*ck you stupid chocobo balloon racing BS)

11 was a waste of money (They should have named it FF Online, that way they could have releases a proper FF game as FF XI

12 is.....different. I'm enjoying the change of scenery, but when you reach the second desert area and run into a giant wolf that rips you to shreds, it's not fun.

and 4, the current one I am playing...I don't think I'll ever see that F*cking rainbow pudding...ever.

I have farmed that thing for like 4 hours.

I've enjoyed them all from 7 to 12, each with their strengths and weaknesses. Oddly enough, I really liked 12, although many did not. I think story wise I liked 7 the best, 9 is right up there too. Game play wise I really like the traditional menu/turn based versions but I also thought the game play in 12 was unique and enjoyable.

I hated 1 through 4. Honestly if I had played them when they first came out I might have liked them, but IMO they just didn't hold up over time.

I thought 5 and 6 was ok. Once again I prob would have loved them (Especially 6 it had a great story) if I had played them when they were new. Really Final Fantasy 6 deserves a 3D remake more then any other Square Soft game IMO.

I know people like to think they are cool for hating it, but I loved FF7. I played it about 3 years after it came out and still loved it. Liked the Battle System, Story, Character development, etc.

Final Fantasy 8 was kinda meh. Didn't like the whole sucking magic to gain stats thing, wasn't a fan of the love story. Played through it and enjoyed it I guess.

Final Fantasy 9 was one step above Final Fantasy 9 in my book. What else can I say?

Final Fantasy X was great IMO. I loved about everything about it. I honestly don't know if I like FF7 or FFX the best. Both were great games for their time. I really want to say X but I think its just the fancier graphics and such talking.

Final Fantasy X-2 was ok but really not needed. They went overboard with the "Hey look at me I am a Ps2 rendered chick in a sexy outfit" IMO. Also trying to get the good ending was absolute BS.

I can't tell you how much I hated Final Fantasy 12. They took a game that should be based on strategy and turned it into a action RPG. The gambit system was BS. I mean trash mobs were so easy you could literally throw the controller in the floor and get up and take a leak and come back and they would be dead. Then you get to a boss and if you don't have your Gambits set up just right you might as well just forget it. I also disliked the characters and the story. Biggest waste of $50 I ever spent. I got about 10 hours into the game and finally said hell with it. I think the giant bird boss in the desert was the final straw for me.

I never played FF11 since it was a monthly MMORPG etc etc.

I have my doubts on FF13. I think since Square did there merger a few years back they have went down hill. I played a few other of their games since then and I have not been impressed.

The same old song a dance, these threads are a dime-a-dozen.

Regardless..

FF1 Would have been better if there was more direction, but a solid game.
FF2 Was decent, I just wasn't a fan of how you leveled.
FF3 Was good, I enjoyed the job system, never beat it though.
FF4 I do not like, it's a downer. I also hate the rigid party formation, and how you're stuck with X job, whether you want it or not.
FF5 I really do like, definitely one of my favorite RPGs. Good story, job system, amongst other things.
FF6 Was good till the world ended, then the story went to ****.
FF7 Was very good. The materia was fun, linking them, not have set jobs for the person, and a solid story.
FF8 I hated. I played through the first disk, and realized I had better things to do.
FF9 Was a ******** of fun. Back to basics FF, fun story, interesting characters, and unique skill-getting.
FF10 Was a lot of fun. I ******* loved the sphere system of leveling.
FF10-2 was fun too, It provided me with de nu mont (sp?), and had interesting way of fighting, changing jobs on the fly to suit your needs was definitely interesting.
FF11 I don't want to get into out of the fear of arguments sparking.
FF12 Felt too much like FF11, and running around with idiotic computer people rather than idiotic human people in FF11.

Personally I think 4 and 9 are the worst, and for mostly the same reasons. 9 was basically just a rehash of 4 with a different skill system and better graphics.

(Dear Square, the whole main-villain-is-my-brother-and-we're-both-from-the-moon thing isn't quite as cool the second time around.)

The thing that makes 9 playable is that it's actually fun, wheras it's a chore to play 4.

12 was just the single player version of 11. I felt liek I was doing the exact same stuff in that game. Camping NM, grinding, and stuff. It didn't seem like a FF game.

7, well, while it ushered in the 3D era, which may or may not be a bad thing, wasn't as great as it's previous games. Basically it was one emo guy with a big sword chasing another emo guy with a big sword.... Hmm, was that? LOL

10-2. Wow...they sold their soul to the devil to make that game. I only know one person that beat the game. That's dedication. Or insanity.

A tip for Rainbow Pudding: Get about 20 Siren. Go to the save room in the Antlion Den. Make sure you save before hand. Continue to use the Siren until you get the drop or you run out. If you run out, reset the game and start over. I got mine on the second set of 20. So about 35ish tries. In that room, you always get 4 puddings.

FF1: Loved it, even though I finished it in almost 20 years too late. Smiley: lol The original rocks, more of an accomplishment to finish than its dumb-down remakes.

FF2: N/A.

FF3: N/A.

FF4: Loved it, it's my favorite 2D Final Fantasy. I'm looking forward to playing the 3D remake. Smiley: grin

FF5: Liked it. The graphics is really subpar when comparing it to FF4. There's even no face of the characters in the menu, the fact that each can change jobs shouldn't be enough reason to neglect that. But I'm not one to be picky with graphics, you know I've played the original FF1 at a late time. Gilgamesh was funny.

FF6: I've enjoyed it up until the overworld turned to ****. I dislike having to keep checking when my characters will level up during magicite development. On top of that, I met the final battle earlier than I expected and won it with only the first set of characters. That was kind of ew considering that battle is designed to be defeated with multiple sets of characters. Celes is the powerhouse, she's extremely strong that I made her out to be.

FF7: A great Final Fantasy, despite it being claimed overrated. Motorcycling and snowboarding were fun, and I loved how much customization the materia system has.

FF8: N/A

FF9: N/A

FF10: N/A

FF10-2: N/A

FF11: It's my life.

FF12: N/A

FFMQ: N/A

FFA: (A for Adventure, Game Boy). It's not exactly Final Fantasy, the storyline is a sequel of Secret of Mana. It does have chocobo riding. It also have a character that resembles Cid (named differently) and has knowledge in engineering of some sort (upgrading chocobo riding to allow riding on water). There are some enemies that can turn you into a moogle temporarily (an extremely strong defense-down status effect). A great game, people claimed it to be better than its remake.

FFCC: N/A

FFT: N/A

FFTA: Liked it for a while, bothered to complete the main storyline. It got boring having to bypass battles I'm too strong for too many times over. The red card giving a permanent stat-down is a turnoff.

FFTA2: N/A

Of the series I've played, I like FF5 the least.

Why is everyone always obsessed with getting re-releases or re-makes for the PSP or Nintendo DS? Nothing beats the originals, and frankly, both the PSP and DS are terrible.

I respectfully disagree, I had one, it took all of 6 months for the damn tocuhscreen thing to wear out. Not to mention that the prices alone of both the DS and PSP were/are ridiculous. I bought handhelds before because they were cheap, durable, and easy to carry, and had fun games. The DS is only one of those things. A large chunk of it's collection of games are re-releases, educational BS, and childrens' games.

I'll stick with my GBA and GBP thank you.
