I'm really surprised there's not a thread for this yet; the demo for this came out yesterday (last week for those of us who preordered) and it is just an amazing game. For those that don't know, it's a zombie survival FPS made by Valve (Half-Life 2, TF2, etc.). It boasts 4 player Co-op with intelligent and adaptive AI. What this means is that when you start doing well, the AI decides to throw more/harder enemies at you, and if you've been doing badly they lighten up (a little). What this also means is that every time you play a level it's different, and intensely fun. I highly recommend downloading the demo on Steam and trying it out. It's so much fun, particularly when you're playing with other people, so find someone to play with and get going!

been playing this the last few days, damn does the game ever hate me and my brother when we tried to do a round on advanced, killing the 2 ai bots whenever they respawned.

its like it tossed twice as many guys at us then we would have with all 4.

Why would you kill them? They're actually very good, and pretty much necessary on expert if you don't have human players for them.

Why else? too see if we could pull it off, something different to shake up the demo.

The dedicated servers must be bogged the hell down because I haven't been able to join a successful co-op all night.

This is released tonight at midnight. I most likely won't be playing it tonight, but tomorrow evening should provide much fun and entertainment Smiley: grin.

I saw a commercial for this last night. While I am not a horror survival game type of player, it looked interesting. Is it any good?

Buying it ASAP, I loved the hell out of the Demo, I fcuking loev co-op games. I have always wanted a game like this. It's the perfect thing to play if you want to talk like this (with your friends) for an hour - "Ok, anybody got a mola -- SH*T SH*T SH*T GET IT OFF GET IT OFF, OH GOOD CHRIST IT'S A LITTLE SISTER (I have no idea why I call the witches little sisters) NO, TURN THAT *********************

I also love killing a hunter as soon as someone yells it out "HUNTE--, oh cool, thanks." Or melee'ing the Smoker's tongue.

I can't play the game on normal though, Advanced is okay but the real fun is on expert, nerf friendly fire though. And hunters, **** hunters.

I've been enjoying the game. Alternating playing between the survivors and the infected creates the perfect balance solution--although it was really the only viable option. I personally favor playing survivors slightly over the infected; I find it is too difficult to do anything creepy as an infected. The strategy for the game is very simple: Survivors stay together and keep moving, and zombies attack together and pick off lone survivors. Tactics are far more important than strategy.

I really want to buy an Xbox 360 to play this game (because I fear it won't be the same on PC)... But honestly, this is coming from someone who hates FPSs with a burning passion, I love this game. I played it with a couple friends and it was just intensely awesome!! (Worthy of two exclamation marks, anyway.) But then again, I'm a zombie freak and that could really contribute to why I like this game so much...

I would strongly receommend getting L4D for teh pc unless you have a strong preference for playing FPS games on consoles. Aside from the obvious mouse and keyboard advantage any updates to the game will be slower reaching the 360 and possibly cost you money. I can't remember whether TF2 360 players have still yet to receive or only jsut recently received some class updates, but it was a long hard wait for them.

What Allegory said. I've never been big on FPSs, but I most definitely prefer them on PC over console.

PC should for sure be the platform of choice, unless you either really hate mouse keyboared (not like pc cant use controllers), dont want mods, or just really want to play it splitscreen on your tv with "real" people.

or your comp blows and cant run it/runs it like ****.

I suppose the only advantage of having it on the 360 over PC, is if you have some mates around, you can probably go for a 4 player Co-op without ******** around trying to create a server.

Also the fact that you can punch the person next to you when they do something stupid is a plus as well.

playing coop on the pc is actually extrememly easy, its just a matter of setting up a friends only game then all your steam friends can join in, 4 player co-op on a big tv would be nice though, assuming the 360 version supports 4 player splitscreen.

True. However, the dedicated servers can be iffy sometimes, so the best method would be having 1 person host the game, which could be a problem if noone has the capabilities to be a good host.

I just can't seem to enjoy playing ANY game with the mouse for some reason. That said, I got L4D on 360 and am loving it. I wish I would strictly play as infected in versus mode, much more carefree once you've embraced the zombie plague.

For those of you on PC who want to have some fun in single player or LAN, open up the console (which you can enable in options, then open in game with ~). Type in sv_cheats 1 and hit enter. This will enable you to enter in cheats to have some fun. Below are some commands you can then enter in the console and what they do. I have not tried many of these, but I did have fun with the director panic mode and spawning tanks. The last 3 that I bolded can be used for some endless zombie fun Smiley: grin.

god 1 - Invincibility
noclip - Enables flying around
nb_blind 1 - Makes the zombies unable to see you (but can still sense you when you touch them).
nb_delete_all - clears all units (zombies and survivors)
z_add - Adds a single infected.
z_spawn bossname - Spawns a boss infected at your crosshairs. Put whatever boss name you wish: tank, boomer, smoker, witch, hunter
give weaponname - Equips you with that weapon
cl_drawhud 0 - So you can't see the HUD
r_drawviewmodel 0 - Makes your weapon invisible
z_common_limit <really big number> - Increases the amount of common infected the director is allowed to use at any given time.
director_panic_forever - Panic events (car alarm, mini-finale) don't end until you reach the safehouse, they just keep coming.
director_force_panic_event - Starts a panic event, as though you had set of the car alarm or something.

if you could do that there would be no versus mode, as there would be no survivors.
