Anyone here still dabble around in the worlds of text gaming? I do, I have for years, even during my WoW obsession. Its still fun!

Every once in a while I'll load up Realms of Despair. It's still got quite a few players.

Definitely not as interesting as it was 8-10 years ago though.

Awesome! I still mess around on one called Clandestine, its probably on its last legs, along with tinkering around on my own. Its a work in progress, just something to have fun with.

I think I've been playing a for a while longer than you (though I have gone through longish periods where I didn't play)

Well, I played once a long time ago, then quit for several years. It was about a year ago when I started back up and created a new character. Around last June I quit for a while, and just last week started playing again, so I'm still trying to get back into the groove of things Smiley: tongue.

I can't send you a friendly item Smiley: frown. Are you in Ronin or HC?

I know I could gift wrap something but that's too much effort Smiley: tongue.

Ugh...

I kinda lost interest in the game when I tried my first HC run... I went as a Disco Bandit, which I heard was supposed to be the best to start on, but I'd only ever played Myst classes and I just had tons of trouble. First thing I did last week when I decided to go back was drop HC... I'm gonna finish up this run and then go back to my Myst classes (still need to perm pastamastery, can't believe I hadn't done that already...).

I log in every now and then to say hi to old friends and run some RP with 'em. I just don't have the time anymore for any gaming it seems! *cries*

I've been splitting my game time between WoW and trying to get my MUD off the ground. Its fun, just tedious getting areas in that won't be bashed too hard :). Especially by myself, but I'll get it someday!

MUD's were so much fun. I played on a MUD based out of Suomi(Finland) for a year or so. It was fun playing with foreigners, but in Finland half the people leave either to go to the military or college after graduating, so you were restricted to getting your real life friends to play.

FFXI was by far the best experience though, players from all around the world is just so amazing.

Bit late on the reply, but I still work for and play a MUD called Dragon's Exodus.

Okay, so this isn't exactly part of the original thread, but it concerns MUD's, mine in particular. I decided to revive our MUD during one of my frequent "I'm bored with WoW" moments. They last a month or so, sometimes. I hired a couple area builders, people I know from another, dying, MUD. Our coder is a very good friend of my wife's.

The situation: I wrote a note concerning the clans/religions on the MUD, and what I have planned for them. This prompted one of our builders to ask the coder for permission to create a clan. He was unaware that I didn't want any created, and so he gave her trust at the same level as he is, which is the level for clanedit. This is one level below max level. When I found out about it, I deleted the clan (which I had stated was my intent to do with the few existing clans and religions), lowered her trust to her own level, and changed her OLC security from what he had changed it to (8), back to what I had it originally, (6). For some insane reason, this pissed her off.

I'm not necessarily asking for advice, although you are more than welcome to give it. I've had situations like this before, and while I do need area builders, I do not need them bad enough to put up with someone's bull$*&@ temper tantrums.

I have no problem listening to people if they need to talk about their problems, I'm a good listener. Sometimes I've even been known to give sound advice. But if people are going to come to a game I've put countless hours of work into trying to prepare it for its destiny of being one of the best non-graphical games on the internet, and bring their whiney high school drama on board and try to suck me into it, they can leave. Because I have more important things to do, like rant on the Allakhazam Multi-Game Forum boards.

Did you confront them about it first and let them know/remind them about your plans for the clans? Or did you just delete it and say "Well, I posted a note, get over it."? Because the latter would tend to cause some hard feelings, while the former would probably not, or at least if it did then you did everything in your power to ease them.

When the builder in question signed on, I explained the situation to her, listened to what she had to say (even though it was an angry rant), and then waited probably 12 hours (because I went to bed) and deleted them when I woke up the next morning. I haven't seen her since, so maybe she's cooling off before she comes back.
