Some questions about startingFollow

Hello there! I've played FFXI for nearly four years and have no intention of stopping, but my bf has recently become bored and frustrated with it and expressed an interest in us playing LoTRO instead. I've got a copy of the game for him for Christmas, and was glad to see it came with several buddy codes so that I can see if it will run on my Macbook in bootcamp.

I'd really appreciate some advice about the various servers. We are from the UK and would really like to play on a server with a lot of people from Europe so that we don't have to stay up ridiculously late for US peak-play time. We are casual sort of players who would be doing a lot of duo/soloing. My bf really hates partying, especially with pick-up groups for some reason, and never partied when playing FFXI except on rare occasions with people we know IRL who used to play. We're not role-players, but don't mind a bit of minor RPing from others.

I've seen a lot of recommendations for Meneldor, so I'm guessing that's where most of you are. I haven't been able to find any LoTRO community forums that are especially active, even on the official site. Does anyone know where there is a large and active discussion for LoTRO?

I hope you can answer my questions, and thanks if you had a look.

Hello Saeva,

I can't answer your question about UK servers, playtime etc, but I'm sure Nobby should be able to answer those questions.

Grouping isn't required nearly as much as FFXI, you'll be able to duo/solo all the way to the level cap, and enjoy alot of different things like housing, crafting, fishing etc.

You wont find any popular community forums because the official forums are very well maintained and populated. (http://forums.lotro.com/index.php) (I don't understand why you think they're not very active, were you looking at the EU site, or US?)

Meneldor is the server that a lot of Allah people are on, population wise, Brandywine and Elendilmir are bigger servers.

I know that Ellendimir is the unofficial Oceanic server. There are lots of them Euros over there.

You haven't found the official site to be active? forums.lotro.com? Because I can post something there and get a response in half an hour.

It's generally believed that Brandywine, Landroval and Ellendimir are the three highest population servers. But like I said, there are lots of Oceanic players on Ellendimir. Meneldor is where the Allah kin is.
