Playing a 360 game on a different 360?Follow

So, I started playing a game on my brother's console over the holidays, but now I want to play it on my friend's 360 up at school. I copied the game data to a memory card and brought it over, and thought it would work fine. Unfortunately, it says that I have to have the original profile that the game was played on in order to access the save data. Is there any way to circumvent this? It's kinda stupid and pointless imo. Thanks!

Not sure if this will work or not but you can try it. Set up a profile with the exact same information as the original profile and see if it'll cooperate.

Hmm a friend of mine brought his copy of LD4 over and played on my xbox with a mem card. had his profile and all that on the card.

Maybe you need to copy your gamer profile onto your card as well.

Never tried.

Reacting to above, you can play the copied savegames when you bring your gamer tag on the memstick too. You cant copy your GT, only move it though.
Cant get the savegames working any other way, recreating your GT on your friends xbox wont work, only bringing your real (xbox live activated / recovered) GT works.
MS really locked down the xbox GT.

I don't think so. Microsoft likes to make sure you pay them as much as possible.

Thanks for the response! My research has basically come up with the same answer unfortunately, which basically means I'm going to have to make a trip back home to move my brother's profile onto the memory card (thankfully, he doesn't mind as he rarely uses it any more anyway). Kinda pisses me off, but whatever. After I finish the game (Fallout 3) I'll make my own profile and play all future games on it, and keep it on the memory card Smiley: tongue.

Yeah, it's partially that way because of achievements, but I think a lot of it is just microsoft being microsoft.

What I really wish you could do was put a GT on a ******* usb stick instead of a mem card. I have a harddrive and I'm not about to spend 20 dollars on a 256 MB card just to make my data portable.

Yea the way storage is restricted on the Xbox 360 is stupid. I used to download tv shows on there for $2 each. Well I quickly ran out of space on the 20 gig HD. Went out and bought a portable usb hard drive case. Stuck a old HD in it and hooked it up to the 360 only to find out I can't use it to download games or tv shows to.

Too bad There are alot of things Id buy on there digital downloads but I will not go out and buy there overpriced 120gig HD. And Id gladly give up achievements to be able to transfer save games and such between game consoles.
