Rune-keeperFollow

Hello Friends,
Just wondering if anyone has done the Rune-keeper class quest. I have died four times and cannot find out the tactics, I have tried everything I can think of and cannot find any explanation of the quest here. I am thinking it is because it is a new class.
I would appreciate any ideas.I love Lotro very much except I get a bit frustrated with the lagging that goes on mainly in a built up area. Have died because of lagging before now.
I love the kin I am in because we have all become really good friends and help each other all the time. I am the first Rune-keeper in my kin so no help there
about the class quest.
Looking forward to the weekend so I can spend more time playing.
Talk to you soon

If you're talking about the lvl 15 quest, (on Weathertop) I've completed it (my RK is about to hit lvl 30).

The mobs come at you 2 or 3 at a time so the trick is to keep at least one of them off you while you grind down the others. The only way I've found to do this is to become adept at "rock tanking". That is to let your rock pet "tank" at least one of each group of mobs till you are able to deal with it.

What you want to do is before each cycle of mobs attacks, cast your healing rock pet and move a step or two to the side. As soon as the rock cycles and casts a heal on you it will draw aggro from the mob you are not yet attacking. This will leave you free to blast away at the first targeted mob until you can kill it and move to the other.

You should also bring a few health and power potions with you since some of the fights can be very close and getting that burst of health or power can come in very handy.

I also recommend making sure that your armor and rune stone are the best you can find/afford so your health and power pools are as big as can be and so that you do as much damage as possible.

And finally it's a good idea to cast any heals you can before each fight begins and let them tick as you begin to take damage.

Good luck and trust me, it's a tough fight but it can be done!

Thank you very much for your reply to my question. I have noticed that my rock pal as you call it, does not respond when I am waiting after each wave, that is my problem. I take everything as you have suggested, if my rock worked I would be alright.
Thank you again for troubling to answwer me I appreciate it.

What do you mean by "does not respond"?

Its a rock... it doesn't do anything besides generate an AoE heal every tick...

and btw, I called it a "rock pet"... not pal... I didn't coin the phrase... (I've seen it in /ooc and in other posts) I just passed it along :-)

As OBD said, the rock isn't a true pet in that you can change its actions and the like. It just throws a heal at set intervals, but that's usually enough to draw some agro from the mobs you haven't whacked yet.

Sorry did not mean to offend. What I meant was it was not ready after i killed quick enough, but I waited this time and it worked. Thank you anyway.
Rock pet is a good name.

I finished this on the first try. Rune-Keeper is great at Kiting I have noticed and the combination of Chilling Rhet and Shocking Touch worked wonders. Keep your HoT up to minimize damage. When they come at you in pairs chill one and blast away on the other. When the one you where nuking gets close use Shocking Touch and run a good distance away. Rinse and repeat.

I hope this helps,
good luck
