I was just wondering if I had to do missions in order to level up my pilot profession. I received a mission where I'm supposed to take out a T4 Lambda along with 5 T3 Interceptors. The server I'm on is quite dead so I'm unable to really find people to help me out. I tried soloing this and I'm not good enough to take them all out. Is it possible for me to just level past this? Or do I need this to get my next set of skills?

On a sidenote, what server has a good population of players? I've seen people say Bria, any others?

What ship are you using, and what parts(stats) are you using. I have been able to solo every mission on both sides at this point...except Ace mission.

Bria
Bloodfin

I believe are the top population, But I have also have heard since the xfer Starsider is getting crowded. Starsider is a space PVP server. A couple of more like Eclispe and Chilastra have benefited from the xfers as well. If you look on the free xfer server listing you will find server that are being xfered from are going to be dead, and the ones that are being xfered too will be much more busy.

this link might help

I've been using a Tie Interceptor. Parts wise I haven't been able to do as much as I'd like since Mass has been a really big problem. What ship or ships would you recommend?

OH OH A SPACE QUESTION!!!!

I remember i kinda good at the space stuff!

Azrielis is right all the mission including the final vette are more than easily solo'd, once you know how that is. First time through can be a bit of a nightmare when you dont have support or someone to advice. even the best get stuck some where around t4 unless they learn about droid chips :P

Might be hard to beleive from where you are, but honest its true, on day you'll look back and wonder what the hell the problem was.

If you can't solo it, well i'll hazzard a guess its more that your equipment is letting you down than your skill.

Flying the intercepter is hard work, its very low mass (later when you have better parts its not quite a bind, but still its very low mass to be effective where you are.)

If you can't find people to help you, all we can do is advice on loadouts and tactics.

First of all are you using parts you have looted or crafted parts from a ShipWright?

if mass is your biggest problem there is also a heavy mass varient of the tie fighter with 90+k mass that SW's can craft that takes care of all your mass worries and is more than capable of doing anything any of the missions can throw at you (i know they can be expencive thou as they require space resources, but maybe if you can find a friendly shipwright you can make a deal on you getting the resources for a discount on the final product)

Failing that im very out of practice with my loadouts especially on the low end ties. but aim for crafted parts for the most part they are much better than looted. LvL 5 engines and guns if you can, you can always try squeezing in a lvl 5 sheild as well if you can, then just fill the rest around it.

Also hows your tactics? Sorry if i sound partonising, but do you know you should take out the rear gun on the lambda? then it can only hit you if your front on? do you realise it has a huge blind spots on its horizontal and vertical, so if you come at it from the sides or above or below it cant hit you? (IE never attack them head on or from behind untill you have taken out the rear gun)

Also usually they are much slower than you are, so you can come in attack it drag the figters escorts off a bit kill them, then come back and deal with the lambda?

Hope all that helps
and sorry for butting in Azrielis :)

Thanks for the information. I just transferred to Bria so I spent a good long while travelling around checking out the various vendors. Most of my ships equipment is vendor made except for a few pieces that I haven't been able to find anything that would fit within my mass budget.

I'll try looking into the heavy mass tie if I'm unable to get it done w/ my interceptor.

Well... I destroyed the lambda and did all the missions up to the final part where I had to take out the T3 Gunboat and it's escorts and died. I went back to the trainer and was depressed when I found I had to do all of that again.

Ok another question. When taking down a gunboat what's the best strategy to avoid getting ripped apart? I generally try to approach from underneath, however I have a hard time staying in this blind spot. Is there a good strategy to follow?

I usually attack it from underneath and behind while targeting gun 4.

Just for future referance its gun 5 that covers the under, gun 4 is the second gun on the top side :P
