I been eying this game off and on since the day its been out but having a hard time getting into it. The part that kills me are the controls and how everything works. I really do like the concept of the game and it does look tons of fun...could someone help me become a addict to this game? Honestly tho it does look great and reminds back in the day when I played SWG when SoE added space flight.

I agree it takes time to get up to speed where you can be a factor. the first couple weeks you have to sit back, learn all your skills, mine for money, and then you will start having fun.

I like the game, have played many mmo's before this, what is REALY bugging me is: I have played the tutorials, I have an industrialist amarr, all i have done for the last 2 days is mine veldspar, and I dont even know if thats good. I need to make money, and all i know is that minerals = cash.

Is there some type of story/class missions I could do to get to know the game more?
I played the start tutorial, and the class tutorials, and now im let loose in the big space. is there some good newbie guide out there? because I honestly dont know where to go from here.

any tips? anyone!?

Find an agent willing to give missions out to you, and run those. Keep increasing your skills to make yourself a better pilot. I had a great link for Eve related information, but seem to have misplaced it.

first thing you need to do is maximise your learning skills, get them all to level IV at least, especially learning itself. this will make the rest of the skills you need a lot faster to learn. Mining is a good way to learn things and earn money to begin with, but as has already been said, mission running is more fun, and to be honest, you can make a lot more isk faster that way too. but you need the skills to do them. level 1 and 2 missions you can probably do in a frigate, but you need to work on your piloting skills and weaponry, as your amarr, i think you need to work on your beam/energy weapon skills, and probably shield tanking, as amarr are .. i think, primarily shield tankers. its a lot more complicated than just this, and i really recommend you join a corp, as the advice you get will be invaluable, not to mention help in understanding things, which to begin with, is a huge hurdle, even with the tutorial. Eve is not a quest driven game, unlike most other MMO's out there, and if it feels like you've been thrown out into the middle of a big universe, without a rudder, then, welcome to Eve, the biggest, most complex, Open-ended game in existence, even the Dev's themselves arent always sure whats going on ;D

umm, advice is always a good thing, but, bad advice can be worse...
i had a look at his 'blog' about as far as the bit where he went on to say how a tempest is a ship designed for shield tanking, i can only imagine he got it confused with the maelstrom, which is a shield tanker :D

its worth noting that minmatar are hard to make a success of, sub capitals are fine, but both the nidhogger and the naglfar are .. well, leave a lot to be desired i guess. but, if you want a reasonably good setup for a tempest, one i use for mission running - its cheaper than a maelstrom although maelstroms do make better mission running ships. then the following fit can be useful;

low slots, 1600mm rolled tungsten plate, large armour repp II, kinetic hardener II, explosive hardener II, 2 x energised adaptive nano II's
mid slots i'd fit 4 x cap recharger II's, sensor booster II
high slots, 5 x 1400mm art II 3 launchers, either heavy or assault,
assault launchers are useful for using defender missiles, or lights to take out frigs, personal choice really.
rigs, i'd fit a nanobot acc, and a couple of trimarks.
it makes for a cap stable armour tanker, that can usually survive most encounters, i recommend carrying 5 light drones, warriors etc, and 2 heavies, ogres being my personal choice,
with mission running its a good idea to fit active hardeners to suit the damage you'll be tanking, so if your going to take emp and thermal damage mostly, then fit an emp and a thermal hardener instead of the kinetic/explosive combo. this is not a pvp setup though :D
