New Player, Trying to get a grasp.Follow

Hey Everybody,

I'm new to SWG and somewhat to MMO's. I am playing the trial game right now. I have a few general and specific questions.

1. How do the expansions work? Do you restart your character for each or if you don't, are there certain levels you should be for each?

2. I've noticed that from what I played so far that I finish a quest and I get XP but some of the parts of the quest I didn't complete. Is that because I chose a certain way to talk to the NPC?

2b. How does the journal work exactly, it gets cluttered, should I clear it out?

3. I've read and heard that the population isn't as big as when it started, are there quests that "need" more than myself to complete or can I play the game by myself?

4. How do I choose either Rebel and Empire? Is it all based on how you play? Are there quests that are only either or?

5. This question is more specific. I have a speeder and I forgot to put it away before getting into a fire fight and it got damaged (it explodes everytime I take it out), and I used th "~" key and it doesn't have any options to fix or what I am supposed to do to get it fixed.

I know this quite a bit, any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to spend some more time reading the guides on this site.
Thanks.

1: the expansions work like most mmo expansions, and if your new to mmos, they pretty much add new areas and quests to the game, you dont need to start a new character you can just travel to any expansion area you have access to.

3: you should be able to do alot of quests on your own, youll probably run into some quests that might be to hard solo, mainly on Kashyyyk and Mustafar, theres should also be instances that are made for full groups.

4: you need to talk to a recruiter of the faction you want to talk to, i know theres a rebel one in Moenia on Naboo, and theres an Imperial one in the Imperial outpost on Talus.

5: it is possible to repair it, but the item you would need to repair it is expensive, so its generally only used on the rare mounts, like BARC speeders, or jetpacks, its easier to just check out the bazaar and buy a Swoop or 2, and try to remember to put it away so you dont lose it.

Also, if your reading guides on this site, watch out since theres alot of outdated material thats really not relevent anymore, so if it was posted or edited before Nov 2005 its probably outdated.

Yeah most of the info I noticed is dated 2005 and there was something about a helper droid at the start of the game which wasn't there. Thanks for the help.

Hi there and welcome to the game!

I have one suggestion that may be of help with some of the quests. As the previous responder pointed out, there is a lot of outdated info out there (pre-CU and NGE).

For just about any SWG information, you might try http://swg.wikia.com/

As a returning 4 year veteran, I think that it seems to be the most up to date, with walk-thrus, NPC info, waypoints, quests by CL, etc. I've found it extremely helpful.

Good luck!
