Getting back into LoTROFollow

#1 Apr 28 2009 at 11:01 AM Rating: Good
So my cyclic WoW burn out is kicking in again and I saw this tempting e-mail for digital DL for 9.99 with one month free for LoTRO... Pretty smart campaign for them really. I had tried the trial way back in the day and it was fun but my WoW freinds pulled me back.

My second impression is that the game is way fun. The graphics are stunning, especially the landscapes. The story is compelling so far and I am making myself read the quest text. It's a bit tough for me not to fall back into WoW mode of metagaming and just blast through quests like a leveling robot so I am actively trying to force myself to slow down and look around.

I'm playing a Warden just becuase I like spear fighting and dig how he uses a notched sheild and spear combo. So far the Warden seems really strong. I know they came out with MoM so I was wondering are they considered overpowered? Well even if they are the DeathKnight of LoTRo, and I hope not, I'm still going to play him becuase its a very fun class.

I have been able to solo all the fellowship quests so far and am up to the quest just past where you *Spoiler Alert* kill Amdir. Will I be able to continue down the main story line if I level a bit past the fellowship quests so I can solo them? Becuase I really like the story so far and how it plays along the LoTR timeline. I think I read those books about 5 times or so when I was younger.

The AH seems pretty hopping so far on Meneldor. I put a bunch of stuff up last night and have already made about 300s even after buying a nice crafted spear for like 30s. Anyway when I saw that Meneldor was a reccomended server for new players I rolled on there remembering that the Alla community had a Kinship there. Is TINFS still going strong?

I'm a level 16 Warden so far named Shomir. No kin yet but if you want to toss me an invite go for it. :D

Hi and welcome back! Warden is tons of fun if you like the gambit combo system. (I don't particularly care for it) The class isn't overpowered, or the flavor of the month; so no worries there.

Again, welcome back, and I'll get someone to send you an invite to the kin.

We are indeed still kicking on the Meneldor server, so be sure to get yourself an invite to TiNFS!

I switched from mainly playing a hunter to a warden when MoM launched, and haven't regretted it for a second. Wardens are alot of fun to play and can survive things like bad pulls better than any other class in the game. Great class to solo with, very useful in a group, what more could you ask for? You will find the going a touch tougher in the 20's but I don't remember ever really feeling overwhelmed at any point while leveling my warden up. I used to love playing alts, but the legendary weapon system and the fact my alts seem squishy after playing the warden have pretty much kept me on the warden full time since I rolled him.

Hello, everyone! I'm also a longtime player of WoW. Been playing off and on, but never real got too much into it because its crazy how much work it is to get anywhere. Plus I was tired of getting ganked everywhere along the way.

Anyways, I got an e-mail from turbine about the anniversary deal going on. Guess they still had my info from Beta and I signed up for it the other day. Been looking around the net for info and it looks like the LOTRO community is still going pretty here. If you guys from TINFS want to send me an invite I would love to join your kinship. My character name is the same as here and I will probably be on 12 pm mountain time. Thanks in advance guys!

Thanks! I'm also falling for a pretty Elf hunter named Shaidal. She's only level 8 so far but I may be logged onto her as well. I do like the warden but I'm realizing that I do spend an aweful lot of time looking at my gambits rather than whats around me when I am playing. The hunter is a bit more mellow in that respect as the ranged attack sequence does not require as much monitoring. I'll probally have to try out a few more classes to 10-15 to decide which one to level up all the way though. :)

I tried a trial before deciding to reactivate, just to make sure I was still into LOTRO. Well, needless to say, 10 levels of playing the warden on a trial account made me reactivate my main account. I liked the warden class also. It’s another melee class but there seems to be enough difference about it that I’d take it up also.

Unfortunately, I’m not experiencing the same circumstance with AH on Silverlode, which is my primary way of making money. Hopefully in the future, Turbine offers character transfers as a way to make more money. I wouldn’t mind going to Meneldor, just like losing my lvl 10 warden, but I have over 150 levels played on my 5 chars as well as their trade skill advancements, so on Silverlode I’ll stay for the meantime.

If you don't already have the original game, like I did, then the $9.99 digital download for original+MoM is an amazing deal not to be passed up.

Awesome, thanks!

From my point of view, I've heard good things about Meneldor population, and it is currently accepting new characters. I would lose all my destiny points (haven't used any so I'm ok with that) and my deluxe house, but it's only 7g, so I'm ok with that.

Thanks for the linkage.

Be prepared to wait a while, the digital download can take a loooooong time.
