Bag space and others questionsFollow

#1 May 11 2009 at 11:25 AM Rating: Decent
Hello,
I have returned from a long layoff and forgot many answers to questions I once had.
1. Bag/vault space is at a premium and I can't remember if there are any bag upgrades. I seem to fill up faster than my quest loop and have to return just to unload.

2. Do most people just mail items to a AH mule? What should I vendor? Receipes dont seem to sell for that much, so should I just sell and keep the mail charge? I can't seem to keep my bags clear for questing with out heading all the way back to a vault.

3. Bartering. I see there are lots of items to change and up to now I have only had drop the items I would get not the ones I would turn in. Vendor those as well. I have a gold fish that says barter but the barter vendor doesnt want, am I missing something?

4. If i drag a stack of items off into space, I get a window to take all 1/2 or 1, but then asks if I want to destroy. How do I get that to activate when using mail or AH?

Thats all for now. Thanks for any replies!

hopefully the test they are running this week will involve changes of adding more inventory space.

otherwise, to answer your questions, no changes in inventory, but you can get more by levelling up or buying a house. when i first got a house, i found that it cleared up a lot of space on all my characters and banks.

prices vary on what you send, so some items aren't as good to send to AH mules. Also, with 5 character slots (or 7), you might actually want to play a class/character instead of just making him a mule.

For that case, I have found that my hunter fits the bill, as he can move around towns easily. I can play him and still use him as my AH character.

There are other barter vendors now, eg, one just for fish. He's probably standing next to the one you tried to talk to.

Drag the item to an empty slot in your bag, instead of empty space. when you do that, you'll keep both stacks. From there, mail off or auction off the stack you want.

Blue,
Thanks for your time. In your post you said 5 or 7 slots. Are you talking about character slots. I have just 5. How much inventory space is in a house. Do alts get space there also? One other thing, lets say I have mastered the apprentice level of forestry/leather. Am I better off processing the leather to get boiled, hoping for a mastery crit and getting 3, our just putting up unprocessed mats on the AH?

Thanks again!

The original game, SoA, gives you 5 character slots. Upgrading to the Mines of Moria expansion gives you 2 extra character slots for a total of 7.

A basic house allows you to purchase 1 chest with about 40 spaces in it. A deluxe house allows you to purchase 2 chests for storage. You can only have 1 house per account, and all characters on your account share it.

I think selling unprocessed materials tends to be more profitable, but either is a viable option. Some people will want unprocessed mats to level up their skill, others will want to buy processed mats to save themselves time. I've found that you seem to make more money selling unprocessed stacks.

Sorry, I meant character slots, as Zak has mentioned.

I see one tailor on my server constantly making gear. His name still appears on lvl 30s clothing just like it did 1 year ago when I met him and bought stuff from him.

So if you have time, and can find the market, sometimes what you'd get for 50 prepared hides, might be better off turning it into some clothing.

I generally don't have that time (or want to spend it making stuff for sale when I do), so I sell the mats as is.

I like how every thing you do can give skillups (none of this thing where you do something 10 times and get 3 skillups), but even gathering all the materials (so many of them, across the different tradeskills) can take time, even for lower-level gear.

Might need to think about that.
Thanks!

Also, you have your vault in which you can store things. These are basically banks, and you can purchase extra chests for it (more vault space) for a certain amount of gold per extra chest.

No bag upgrades, but you can buy more bank space (and it gets expensive fast), as well as add a couple chests to you house.

Ok,
If I buy a house (which I did) and get the chest (also did) and I change houses, can I get back the cost of the house/chest/items or is that money lost? The vendors give back a fraction for item that have been purchased and wondered if that would be the same in this case.

Thanks,

Yeah, there is a sell price but it is far less than you paid. Housing is basically a money sink and so there is little incentive for Turbine to offer you a refund!
