I finally finished Fable II the other day and downloaded the demo for Halo Wars. Wasn't bad, nothing great though. Since I'm now looking for a new game to keep me busy for awhile I was wondering how Halo Wars stacked up against RTS games like C&C, Warcraft, Starcraft and the like.

Also, can anyone recommend any decent RPGs for the 360? I've played Fable II, Lost Odyssey and Enchanted arms and wasn't really impressed with any of them.

Basically I am trying to decide between Fallout 3, Infinite Undiscovery, Mass Effect, Halo Wars, Civilization Revolution and C&C RA3. I've been thinking about Gears of War 2 but FPS games aren't usually my first choice. Any other RTS or RPG recommendations would be appreciated as well.

Not impressed by Lost Odyssey? That's about as classic RPG as you are going to get on the 360, plus it's beautiful and has a pretty good story.

You could try Blue Dragon. It's more "cartoonish" in the graphics, the art style is by the same people behind the Dragon Quest series. It has a pretty good story and gameplay.

Tales of Vesperia, just about perfect in my opinion. Excellent Tales game.

Last Remnant. Good, but different, Unit-based control system rather than character based.

Star Ocean, the Last Hope. Excellent. Action-styled random battles (Similar to the Tales games battle system).

Eternal Sonata, fun game, nice graphics, an open "tactical" type battle system.

Spectral Force 3. Tactical RPG. Get it if you like Tactics games... but not my favorite. Rent it first to see if you like it.

Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Oblivion are all pretty much better on the PC if you have a PC that can handle it.

I'm somewhat of an old school gamer, "pretty" is very low on my priorities list when it comes to games. It was a pretty good game but their was something about it that really turned me off.

I prefer turn based combat over live action but either way it has to be very smooth, this is the big thing I have found a lot of todays RPGs are missing and what tends to turn me away from a lot of games. Not just combat but the battle system all together.

Oblivion wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I started with the TES series back with Daggerfall and neither Marrowind nor Oblivion have lived up to Daggerfalls overall playstyle. But I agree, these type of games are much better on the PC, which is why I haven't grabbed it for the 360.

I'm a huge fan of Both Mass Effect and Fallout 3. Have beat them both once so far.

Have you played the Expansion Pack? That was excellent. 10x better than the main story :)

But, you should get Star Ocean and Tales of Vesperia. Excellent RPGs for the 360.

Star Ocean is a more modern day, "realistic" 3-d graphics, but the gameplay and story hold up to the old style games you like.

Tales of Vesperia has a more "cartoonish" 3-d cell shaded graphics, and the gameplay and story are good, this one will probably be better for you if you are biased against realistic 3-D graphics like in Lost Odyssey.

With Lost Odyssey the game sucks till you get past the 2nd boss. Really I don't know what else to recommend if you didn't like Lost Odyssey though. I played Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata and found both to be boring personally. I can't really comment on the others though.
