I now have the top spec imac with the up-rated video card , so as it plays WoW at full power in windowed mode at around 100fps and even in Dalaran does not miss a beat i was thinking of now installing one of the windows programs either using bootcamp or one of the other ways to be able to run windoze on a mac.

So my first question is what is the best way you have found to use microsoft products on your mac , is it boot camp or one of the other products that are available ?.

Second question is what operating system do you think is good for mostly playing PC games that i can install ?.

Third question is as i have around 1Tb to play with how much do you think i need to use to create a partition on my drive ?.

I could find this information out elsewhere but as gaming is what i mainly intend to use it for i thought the best people to ask would be mac gamers here for your views on what you found was best as i am pretty sure there are a few that play both mac and pc games on your macs.

I put this here hoping as alla gamers that play non mac available games will be more likely to spot it here as it is not a technical problem as such but i was looking ? hoping to find out what other mac gamers experiences were like , i dislike PC ( microsoft ) and have not used any of the PC systems in many many years so am rather out of touch apart from hearing all the problems people have with their operating systems and was looking for just a little help to decide the best route to go .

I guess i should have posted this in the WoW forums as at least there i would have got a better response and a few answers to my questions.

I can't be of much help, but I hope any information will be of more use to you than no information.

The only dual booting programs I know of are Boot Camp, Boot Picker (used mainly by larger computer setups), and rEFIt (open source). I'm not too familiar with the benefits and problems of each, but Boot Camp is obviously the most popular, and I've yet to hear of any significant problems for it or that another program is supposedly superior so I assume it suits the needs of most users ratehr well.

Windows 7 is fairly stable and easier on RAM than Vista. XP is viable as well. I would recommend Windows 7, but you should probably do more research in this area.

The partition is a really open issue. Other than minimum space requirements there is no right or wrong way to partition a drive(s). Know how much space you need for the operating system, add on space requirements for WoW, both with a small safety net, and then add as much space as you feel you will need for more Windows applications. If you plan on playing a lot of games in Windows then obviously you will want space available for those games. Another option is to create an extra partition, one for just the Windows OS and another for your games and miscellaneous windows apps. This has the benefit of allowing you to format just the partition Windows is on in case something happens to the OS that you cannot fix. You can then reinstall Windows to that partition without losing any of your game or Win apps' data.

Try to plan ahead. It is possible to repartition once you have everything set up, but it is simply easier and less annoying to partition correctly from the beginning.
